We are currently seeking to recruit a full-time Immigration Solicitor to join our existing immigration team. We are currently looking for a passionate immigration paralegal/solicitor to join a fantastic legal firm based in the regional office in Blackburn. You will be handling your own caseload of legal aid and private clients. This will be an interesting and diverse workload and the immigration paralegal/solicitor should be self-motivated with good drafting skills to prepare representations. Key attributes of the immigration solicitor include having strong work ethics, good immigration experience, good delivery of work, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a personality to match. The post-holder will need to have at least three years’ experience of providing advice, casework and representation in and immigration law. Current Experience should include: Spouse/Fiancé/unmarried partner in country/out country applications Indefinite Leave applications - all categories EEA applications All points based applications Further Leave to Remain applications Visitor Visas Appeals Detention/Bail applications British Nationality applications Asylum Claims Further Submissions Duties and Responsibilities To provide advice, casework, and representation to clients on all aspects of immigration and nationality law. This is largely individual casework based. Keep accurate and detailed case records and files for the continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring, and report preparation. To ensure that all advice and casework comply with all regulatory requirements. Work flexibly with other staff to ensure effective work. Contribute to the administration of the office to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the company. To keep up to date with the changes in relevant legislation. To read the relevant asylum and immigration law reports and other relevant materials. Ability to supervise other caseworkers and provide them with legal assistance as and when necessary. The applicant will be expected to demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience of handling complicated non-asylum immigration cases in particular Points Based applications. The applicant must be willing to travel to the regional offices at as and when required, this could be at short notice in order to meet client expectations. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Legal Assistant to join our Official Injury Claims Portal team in Blackburn. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about the work they do, the service they provide and getting the best results for their clients. As Legal Assistant on the OIC Portal team you will be progressing disputed claims through the Official Injury Claim portal in an accurate and efficient manner. You will be working individually with high attention to detail but also as part of the team. The team is currently broken down between Liability Admitted cases and Liability Disputed cases. On a daily basis you will be dealing with quantum and liability dispute cases, which are unable to be settled at Stage 2 in the OIC Portal. You will be required to either negotiate settlement or failing that, issue proceedings within the OIC Portal for the Court to determine liability or quantum at a final hearing. They also deal with very high quality Clinical and Medical Negligence personal injury cases and have grown steadily over the past few years. As a result of their success they are now looking for a Solicitor/Fee Earner with experience of working in a fast paced, cost driven environment. Responsibilities: Managing a caseload of litigated and pre-litigated Clinical Negligence files, both straightforward and complex Conduct relevant investigations in order to repudiate and/or conclude the claim. Undertaking Court Telephone Hearings Timely and accurate maintenance of all case management, billing and management information systems Correspondence and telephone calls Reviewing files Being part of the support for junior staff Personal Specification: Qualified Solicitor or high level experience in Fee Earning. 3+ years PQE in managing a medical/clinical negligence caseload Confident in litigating matters from start to Finish. Excellent customer care skills. Hard working and able to work from own initiative with minimal supervision. Keen Commercial awareness.
