Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer - Continental Shifts - Newry - Shift Package Your New Company A leading company within NI with global reach, underpinned by expertise, knowledge and innovation. Your New Role Our client is seeking to recruit a multi-skilled, Shift Maintenance Engineer / Technician. Based within the Maintenance Department you will be responsible for carrying out day-to-day electrical and mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing facility comprising of both preventive and reactive duties. You will act as a member of the Central Services Maintenance team and will take the lead role in maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing machinery forming part of the manufacturing plant. You must also be willing to perform maintenance tasks for production output support as part of a team. Whilst on shift your core duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Rectify and support electrical and mechanical breakdowns efficiently and effectively * Communicate and record any changes and complete relevant maintenance documentation * Work as an integral part of an engineering team * Take reasonable care for the health and safety of self and others, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations * Carry out routine/preventative and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical components of the plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner * Ensure that all works are carried out to a high standard as expected. Ensure all H&S (Health and Safety) procedures are adhered to including Permit to Work, Comply with the company LOTO system at all times * Comply with Health & Safety requirements: as per training, policies, procedures, risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work etc. * Report any H&S issues/accidents/near misses to your line manager immediately * Attend training as required to maintain personal qualification/competence * Comply with the Company Equal Opportunities Policy and promote equality * Any other duties as required by line management, commensurate with the post holder's level of training and competence * Create maintain & enhance effective working relationships with key stakeholders * Any other duties as deemed necessary. What You'll Need To Succeed In order to be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the following skills, experience and qualifications: Essential Completed apprenticeship in an Electrical or mechanical discipline within a manufacturing industry * BTEC ONC qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline * A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment * Experience in carrying out electrical and mechanical fault-finding and planned maintenance * Logical and well-organised approach to problem-solving * Ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment, to operate under time pressure * Ability to work as part of a team or unsupervised * Ability work a range of continental day and night shifts Desirable (Due to the nature of the role preference will be given to applicants demonstrating the following desirable criteria) BTEC HNC/HND qualification in an engineering discipline * Previous experience or working within regulated environments * Knowledge of control systems within automated equipment. DEPARTMENT: Commercial REPORTING TO: Commercial Manager The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for providing commercial expertise in the delivery of the contracted work by taking the commercial lead on a project. The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the provision of accurate and timely commercial reports and advice to the management team whilst ensuring the contract achieves the appropriate commercial targets. Role Responsibilities Support the Commercial Manager with the delivery of contracted work within agreed margins. Ensure that all reporting is accurate and completed to agreed timescales. Ensure the project and programme contract, cost, quality and time targets are met. Ensure prompt and regular submission of main contract payment applications and ensure that subcontractor payments are dealt with fairly and in accordance with subcontract terms. Build a close relationship with Project Manager to ensure the goals for the project are met. Assist the Operations team with customer relationships. Maintain and coordinate all commercial reports required for the successful commercial management of the contract. Ensure compliance with the business delays and contract process maps. Preparation of the forecasting and reporting of costs against value to ensure that it is in line with the contract profitability forecast. Ensure all subcontract issues are resolved, deferring to the Commercial Manager where appropriate. Ensure the accuracy of the commercial data generated within relevant software. Ensure compliance with all contractual requirements, providing support and training on both the contract and the schedule of rates to maximise value recovery. Management of subcontract accounts including interrogation, procurement, payments, variations and final accounts. Preparation of all subcontracts to meet the company standards. Ensures all subcontractor commercial issues are resolved and payments are timely and correct. Identifying, raising and pricing of variation in line with the change control process including identification, measurement claims and rogue rates. Obtain maximum recovery through accurate measurement of the works completed. Provide key information across the contract team. Liaise with the Commercial Manager to ensure accuracy of costs, and best practise in material buying. Liaise and assist with the performance analyst in the preparation of run rate data, including the preparation of weekly gang profit / loss, plant spend, KPI and prefect delivery requirements. As part of the overall management team take responsibility regarding health, safety, quality and the environment providing commercial support. Coach and mentor Quantity Surveyors and Junior Quantity Surveyors within the Commercial department, sharing knowledge and best practice. Act as mentor to any apprentices that may be attached to the Commercial department, sharing knowledge and best practice, acting as a point of contact for any queries, and providing feedback on the apprentice as required. In conjunction with the Contracts Manager / Site Manager provide sub-contractors with sufficient health, safety and environmental information relating to the specific contract at Pre-order meetings and request statutory documentation. Take an active role in ensuring health, safety and the environment are effectively managed on site including monitoring activities as detailed in the Project Strategy Plan. Co-operate with other Cunningham staff and subcontractors in health and safety matters. In conjunction with the Project Director/Contracts Manager ensure adequate cost/ provisions are made available to enable health, safety and environmental issues to be effectively managed on site. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required BSc in Quantity Surveying (or other equivalent commercially related discipline). Hold current membership or be working towards professional membership of an appropriate organisation (for example, RICS/CIOB). Detailed knowledge of company management systems including: o Commercial and financial. o Procurement o Risk Management o Personnel Management o Quality Management o Environmental Management o Safety Management A working knowledge of current legislation and CSCS compliance. Commercial and contractual knowledge, in various forms of contract. Specialist knowledge in chosen field, as well as sound knowledge of construction practices and standards. Proven experience of managing quantity surveyors and assistants on larger contract Negotiation and settlement of disputes and accounts relating both to customers and suppliers. People management experience, such as managing performance and development procedures. Experience working with a variety of schedule of rates contracts. Ability to work in a team environment contributing across a business unit. Good management skills, with the ability to motivate self and colleagues to achieve high standards of compliance. Good operational planning and time management skills; able to manage projects simultaneously without compromising on standards and quality.
