Hospital Director We are seeking a hands-on Hospital Director with a strong background in independent mental health services to lead and scale a growing organisation. This role is suited to an experienced leader who has successfully run or significantly contributed to the operation of independent mental health hospitals or specialist services. The successful candidate will play a central role in operational leadership, service growth, regulatory excellence, and organisational development, with a clear pathway to Managing Director as the organisation expands. This is not a purely strategic board role. We are looking for someone who enjoys building services, leading teams, improving quality, and driving growth on the ground. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership • Lead the day-to-day operations of the hospital/service ensuring high standards of care and regulatory compliance., • Provide visible leadership to clinical and non-clinical teams., • Ensure services meet CQC standards and maintain strong inspection outcomes., • Work with ownership/board to implement growth strategy., • Identify opportunities to expand services or develop new provision., • Ensure robust governance frameworks across clinical, operational, and safeguarding domains., • Work closely with clinical leads to ensure safe, evidence-based practice., • Manage budgets, occupancy, and service performance., • Build strong relationships with NHS commissioners, ICBs, and local authorities., • Build and lead a high-performing multidisciplinary team., • Recruit and develop senior managers and clinical leaders., • Play a central role in scaling the organisation., • Contribute to board-level decision making. This role will involve delivering dedicated, person-centred care to support a patient during periods of distress, helping to manage risk and maintain safety within a therapeutic rehabilitation environment. The successful clinician will work closely with the multidisciplinary team while following the hospital's policies around least restrictive practice. The service is ideally looking for nurses who are able to commit to block bookings in order to provide consistent care and continuity for the patient. Main Duties and Responsibilities Provide one-to-one care and support for a patient within a specialist rehabilitation setting. Deliver high-quality, person-centred mental health care focused on safety, dignity, and wellbeing. Support the patient during distressed periods and assist in reducing risk within the clinical environment. Assist with personal care and support with activities of daily living where required. Engage the patient in meaningful activities and therapeutic interaction. Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with service standards. Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and consistent care delivery. Adhere to all clinical governance, safeguarding policies, and professional standards. Important Information Care must be delivered in line with least restrictive practice principles. Physical restraint is not permitted within this role. Essential Requirements NMC registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse. Experience supporting patients with complex mental health needs. Previous experience providing one-to-one care within inpatient or rehabilitation settings. Strong risk awareness and the ability to support patients during periods of distress. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Ability to work independently while also collaborating with the wider clinical team. Desirable Experience Experience within mental health rehabilitation services. Experience supporting patients requiring enhanced observation or one-to-one care.
