Engineering & Fleet Workshop Manager\n\nLocation: Leicester\nSalary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum (DOE)\nHours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (flexibility required to meet operational needs)\n\nImpact Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Engineering & Fleet Workshop Manager on behalf of one of the UK's leading recycling and waste management businesses.\n\nThis is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and growing organisation, taking responsibility for a busy engineering and fleet maintenance operation. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of both fleet and engineering functions while leading a multi-skilled team.\n\nThe Role:\n\nAs Engineering & Fleet Workshop Manager, you will oversee all maintenance activities across the business, ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and high standards of service delivery. You will be responsible for leading engineering personnel, managing budgets and KPIs, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring all workshop activities are delivered safely and effectively.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nLead and manage a multi-skilled engineering team, including Fleet Maintenance Coordinators, Fleet Administrators, HGV Technicians, Fixed Engineers, and Field MHE Engineers\nEnsure all maintenance activities are delivered in line with company maintenance strategies and operational requirements\nMaintain compliance with all relevant legislation and standards, including LOLER, PUWER, COSHH, Road Transport Legislation, Health & Safety regulations, ISO systems, and Service Level Agreements\nManage and develop engineering personnel through coaching, performance reviews, training, and succession planning\nOversee the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and ensure accurate maintenance records are maintained\nManage engineering stock control, inventory levels, and replenishment processes\nProduce, analyse, and present departmental KPIs and performance reports\nCollaborate closely with operational and HSEQ teams to improve efficiency, safety, and performance\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and external contractors\nMonitor departmental expenditure and manage budgets effectively\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives and utilise root cause analysis to reduce downtime and improve reliability\nManage attendance, performance, conduct, and disciplinary matters where required\nDeliver daily team briefings and maintain excellent housekeeping standards across workshop areasRequirements:\n\nPrevious experience managing a fleet workshop, engineering department, or maintenance operation\nQualified HGV Mechanic\nProven experience leading multi-skilled engineering and maintenance teams\nStrong understanding of maintenance compliance, statutory inspections, and health & safety legislation\nExperience managing KPIs, budgets, and operational performance\nExcellent organisational and planning skills\nStrong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and maintenance management systems\nAbility to work effectively within a fast-paced operational environmentPersonal Attributes:\n\nStrong leadership and people management skills\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management abilities\nProactive, driven, and results-focused approach\nStrong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities\nAbility to motivate, coach, and develop high-performing teams\nComfortable operating in a fast-moving and demanding environmentWhat's On Offer:\n\nCompetitive salary of £50,000 - £60,000 depending on experience\nCompany laptop and mobile phone\n33 days annual leave including bank holidays\nEnhanced maternity and paternity leave\nEmployee Assistance Programme (EAP)\nEmployee discount and savings scheme\nOngoing training and professional development opportunities\nOpportunity to play a key leadership role within a growing and operationally critical businessIf you are an experienced Engineering, Maintenance, Fleet, or Workshop Manager looking for your next challenge, we'd like to hear from you.\n\nApply today with an up-to-date CV.\n\nImpact Recruitment are acting as an employment agency on behalf of our client
