Job Description We are seeking an experienced and energetic Wok Cook to join an Island/Caribbean kitchen team. The ideal candidate has strong wok‐firing skills, thrives in a fast‐paced environment, and is passionate about bold Caribbean flavors, fresh ingredients, and authentic island cooking techniques. This role is essential to delivering high‐quality dishes with consistency, speed, and vibrant presentation. Key Responsibilities • Prepare and cook a variety of Caribbean and island‐inspired dishes using wok techniques, including sautéing, stir‐frying, and searing., • Execute menu items according to established recipes, flavor profiles, and presentation standards., • Maintain proper heat control, timing, and wok movement to ensure consistent texture and flavor., • Prep ingredients daily, including chopping vegetables, marinating proteins, and portioning sauces., • Ensure all food is cooked safely and stored according to health and sanitation guidelines., • Keep wok station clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout service., • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow., • Assist with inventory rotation, labeling, and minimizing food waste., • Follow all kitchen safety procedures, including proper handling of hot equipment and oils. Qualifications • Previous experience as a Wok Cook, Line Cook, or similar role in a fast‐paced kitchen., • Strong understanding of Caribbean/Island flavors, spices, and cooking methods (jerk, curry, stews, stir‐fry blends)., • Ability to work quickly while maintaining high quality and consistency., • Excellent knife skills and ingredient prep abilities., • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards., • Ability to stand for long periods and work in a high‐heat environment., • Reliable, punctual, and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Preferred Skills • Experience with Caribbean cuisine (Haitian, Jamaican, Trinidadian, Bahamian, etc.)., • Ability to multitask and manage multiple wok orders simultaneously., • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
