Job Description Summary: Reporting to the Technical Director, the Academy Boys Director oversees the competitive experience for all Academy Boys teams, implementing the program vision, leading coach mentorship, and ensuring excellence in team and player development. The Director collaborates with coaches, families, and club leadership, upholding high standards and serves as head coach for at least one Academy team. The Academy Boys program is recognized for its strong track record of player advancement, with recent professional opportunities, numerous college placements at top universities, including Stanford and Georgetown, successful transitions into professional academies (such as D.C. United) and US Soccer camps, and team successes in the most advanced level of national competitions. Academy teams compete in leading platforms such as MLS NEXT Homegrown and Academy Divisions, USYS Conferences/EDP, Acela League, and NCSL, with nearly 800 boys participants and over 40 boys program coaches supported by a dedicated staff. ASA connects and engages our community through high-quality, accessible soccer programs that positively impact every player. In addition to advancing each player's soccer profile, the Academy Program teaches teamwork, coachability, resiliency, humility, and self-confidence. Our goal is to be a leading program that helps all participants reach their highest potential on and off the field. Key Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Program Leadership * Oversee and enhance the experience, growth, and performance of all boys' teams in the Academy program, including soccer and futsal seasons. * Collaborate on annual program planning, vision, and ongoing enhancements; provide recommendations focused on player and coach advancement. * Serve as a primary representative for the Academy Boys teams, facilitating high professional standards across all teams and acting as liaison for families, players, and staff. Coaching Culture & Staff Mentorship * Mentor and develop the entire Academy Boys coaching staff with regular demonstrations, feedback, and performance evaluations. * Lead or coordinate in-house coaching education, curriculum implementation, and peer-to-peer learning opportunities, hosting workshops, field sessions, and technical meetings. Team & Player Development * Guide and oversee player evaluation, placement, and roster management processes for all Academy Boys teams, ensuring alignment with club philosophy and development pathways. * Facilitate a player-centric, inclusive, and aspirational environment; support transitions and opportunities within and outside the club. * Lead head coach for one Academy Boys team, including all planning, training, match, and player management duties. * Collaborate with ASA’s College Placement Director to provide insight, information, and support for the recruiting process; support college panel events as needed. Futsal Programming * Collaborate with Academy and club staff to coordinate planning (i.e., Boys team formation), provide administrative support, and facilitate communication for Academy Boys futsal programming, ensuring alignment with overall player development goals. Communication & Administration * Host informational and town hall meetings for players and families; provide regular, transparent updates and seek feedback from all stakeholder groups. * Create and deliver program communications (including website, email, & social media content) and collaborate with club administrators and communications staff on broader outreach initiatives. * Manage program records, compliance, and operational administration in partnership with club staff. Qualifications: * Minimum of 7 years of progressive coaching experience in soccer, specializing in player development at the U13-U19 ages. * Must hold a U.S. Soccer C License (or equivalent) or higher coaching certification; B License (or equivalent) or higher preferred. * Track record of successful program planning, multi-team staff mentorship, and head coach experience at the Academy or higher levels. * Knowledge of curriculum building, player development, and best practices in both soccer and futsal. * Outstanding organization, communication, and time management skills with the ability to oversee a multi-team environment. * Strong leadership, collaborative spirit, and commitment to player, coach, and personal professional growth. * Must pass all required background checks and comply with club policies. Physical Requirements: * When working in the office, working conditions are normal for an office environment. * The job may require the employee to function in high-activity indoor and outdoor sports venues, and the employee may be exposed to inclement weather of varying degrees. * While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time and walk long distances. * The employee may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit and must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
