Job Description The Industrial Paint/Coatings Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the industrial painting and coating department. This role ensures that all surface preparation, painting, and coating activities meet company standards, customer specifications, and industry compliance. The supervisor will lead a team of painters and support staff, manage scheduling, maintain quality control, and ensure workplace safety. Key Responsibilities: * Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in industrial painting, blasting, and coating application processes. * Monitor the preparation of surfaces (e.g., sandblasting, cleaning) prior to coating and painting. * Ensure all work is performed according to specifications (e.g., SSPC/NACE standards) and quality control procedures. * Schedule workload, assign jobs to team members, and ensure timely completion of projects. * Train, mentor, and evaluate painting staff, ensuring compliance with operational and safety procedures. * Inspect completed work for adherence to specifications and quality standards; initiate corrective action as needed. * Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, equipment use, and work completed. * Coordinate with other departments (production, maintenance, QA/QC, engineering) to ensure smooth workflow and alignment with production goals. * Ensure proper use, maintenance, and inventory of painting equipment, tools, and protective gear. * Promote a culture of safety and enforce OSHA and company-specific safety regulations. Qualifications: * Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial painting or coatings application, including 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role. * Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certifications in coatings (e.g., NACE, SSPC) preferred. * Skills & Competencies: * Strong leadership and team management skills * In-depth knowledge of industrial coating systems (e.g., epoxy, polyurethane, zinc-rich primers) * Familiarity with airless, conventional, and plural component spray systems * Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and coating specifications * Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills * Commitment to safety and quality assurance * Basic computer skills (for documentation and reporting) Working Conditions: * Physically demanding work environment with exposure to noise, dust, paint fumes, and solvents. * Work may involve standing for long periods, climbing, and working at heights or in confined spaces. * Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. * May involve shift work or overtime to meet production deadlines.
