Job DescriptionJob Title: HVAC Technician Job Description The HVAC Technician installs, maintains, and repairs plumbing and heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in an industrial environment. This role performs routine maintenance and preventive checks, conducts inspections of plumbing and drainage systems, and responds to and resolves plumbing and HVAC emergencies while working with a wide range of mechanical and electrical components. Responsibilities • Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems and heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment in an industrial setting., • Perform routine maintenance and preventive checks on furnaces, air conditioners, boilers, refrigeration units, and associated plumbing systems., • Diagnose and repair furnaces, air conditioners, boilers, refrigeration units, and various industrial plumbing systems., • Respond to plumbing emergencies, quickly assess issues, and implement effective repairs to restore functionality and safety., • Conduct routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems to identify potential problems and ensure proper operation., • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and plumbing issues related to HVAC units and associated systems., • Read and interpret schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and rough drawings to plan and execute installations and repairs., • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to install, repair, and maintain plumbing and HVAC components., • Work with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and copper piping, including bending and sweating copper plumbing lines., • Apply knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices to all work performed., • Complete projects independently without supervision while managing time and tasks efficiently., • Communicate clearly with colleagues and stakeholders to explain issues, proposed solutions, and project status., • Maintain high attention to detail and accuracy when performing measurements, conversions, and system adjustments., • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously while prioritizing work based on urgency, safety, and operational impact.Essential Skills, • Universal HVAC certification is highly encouraged and demonstrates broad competency in HVAC systems., • HVAC license with strong experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC units in industrial environments., • EPA license for handling refrigerants in compliance with environmental and safety regulations., • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools commonly used in the plumbing and HVAC trades., • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and plumbing issues with HVAC units and related systems., • Strong ability to work with mechanical and electrical components, including wiring and control systems., • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and rough drawings., • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and standard safety practices for industrial facilities., • Familiarity with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and copper piping, including proper installation and repair techniques., • Ability to bend and sweat copper plumbing lines accurately and safely., • Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills for working with team members and other stakeholders., • Ability to complete projects unsupervised and unassisted while maintaining quality and safety standards., • Excellent problem-solving skills for diagnosing complex system issues and identifying effective solutions., • High attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment., • Proficiency in basic mathematics and conversion of measurements for accurate layout, installation, and repairs.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience working in industrial shop environments with large-scale HVAC and plumbing systems., • Comfort with physically demanding work that involves extensive walking, standing, and manual tasks., • Ability to adapt to changing schedules, including early start times and frequent overtime opportunities., • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to facility procedures and guidelines., • Reliability and self-motivation to manage workload and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in an industrial shop environment with early daytime shifts, typically 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the option to move to a 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. schedule. There is significant overtime available on Saturdays for those who want additional hours. The work is physically active, with approximately 90% of the day spent walking or standing. Some areas of the shop are not air-conditioned, and certain tasks and locations can be dirty, requiring comfort with getting hands-on and working in less-than-pristine conditions. You work around industrial equipment and HVAC/plumbing systems and must follow safety protocols at all times. The dress code includes steel-toed shoes, work pants or jeans, and plain work shirts suitable for an industrial environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
