Job DescriptionJob Title: Warehouse Associate Job Description The Warehouse Associate operates overhead cranes and other warehouse equipment to safely lift, move, and position structural steel products. This role ensures loads are properly secured, maintains clean and well-functioning equipment, and accurately tracks inventory within assigned bays while loading customer trucks based on order sheets. Responsibilities • Operate an overhead crane to lift, move, and position structural steel beams and other materials safely and efficiently., • Verify that all loads are correctly attached, balanced, and within the crane’s lifting limits before and during movement., • Load semi-truck beds with structural steel based on order sheets, ensuring accuracy and completeness of each order., • Track and maintain inventory within the assigned bay, including documenting product movement and stock levels., • Keep the crane and related equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition by performing basic upkeep and reporting issues., • Handle materials throughout the warehouse, including staging, organizing, and relocating products as needed., • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts or electric pallet jacks to move materials safely., • Use RF scanners or similar technology to pick orders and record inventory transactions accurately., • Follow all safety procedures and warehouse guidelines to maintain a safe working environment., • Collaborate with a small team to meet production and shipping schedules and support overall warehouse operations.Essential Skills, • At least 6 months of experience operating a forklift, including sit-down, stand-up, or high-reach models., • At least 6 months of experience operating heavy equipment in a warehouse or similar environment., • At least 6 months of general warehouse experience, including material handling and order picking., • Ability to operate or learn to operate overhead cranes safely and effectively., • Experience working in a warehouse environment, including equipment operation and material handling., • Ability to use RF scanners or similar devices for order picking and inventory tracking., • Strong attention to safety when lifting, moving, and positioning heavy loads., • Ability to read and follow order sheets and basic written instructions., • Capability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Prior experience operating an overhead crane is highly preferred., • Additional heavy equipment operating experience is a strong plus., • Comfort working around structural steel and metal distribution operations., • Ability to work effectively in a small team of 2–3 people., • Strong reliability and willingness to learn new skills and equipment.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a metal distribution center that, while not temperature controlled, is kept relatively clean and organized for this type of facility. Temperatures inside generally match outdoor conditions due to trucks driving in and out throughout the day. Warehouse associates typically work on either 1st shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) or 2nd shift (4:00 PM – 11:30 PM), within small teams of 2–3 people. The environment involves regular use of overhead cranes, forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and RF scanners to handle structural steel and other materials. The dress code requires protective footwear with reinforced toes, jeans, and a work shirt suitable for an industrial setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
