Job DescriptionJob Title: Production Worker – Packaging Machine OperatorJob Description This role focuses on operating and setting up automated packaging machinery used to fill, cut, seal, and package sauce packets and containers in a clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing environment. You will handle machine setup, monitor production runs, resolve equipment issues, and ensure products meet quality and safety standards while following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Responsibilities • Set up and operate automated packaging machinery, including auto packagers, cutters, and fillers for sauce packets and containers., • Configure machinery by connecting and adjusting hoses to tankers, kettles, and fillers to ensure proper product flow., • Install and replace film and rolls on packaging equipment, and adjust blades to achieve accurate cutting and sealing., • Enter and manage production orders and runs in the computer system to ensure correct product specifications and quantities., • Monitor equipment during operation, promptly manage and unclog jams, and perform basic troubleshooting to keep lines running smoothly., • Inspect products for defects and verify that filled, cut, sealed, and packaged items meet quality and GMP standards., • Climb ladders and work on mezzanines above machinery, kettles, and tanks as needed to access equipment components., • Lift up to 40 pounds independently to move materials, packaging supplies, and product as required for production., • Follow GMP procedures and safety protocols at all times, including proper attire and hygiene requirements., • Collaborate with team members on the production floor to maintain efficient workflow and meet production goals., • Maintain a clean and organized work area around machinery, tanks, and packaging lines., • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or quality problems to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.Essential Skills, • At least 1 year of experience working in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) environment., • At least 1 year of packaging experience in a production or manufacturing setting., • At least 1 year of manufacturing or general production experience., • Ability to operate packaging machinery and related equipment safely and efficiently., • Comfortable lifting 40 pounds individually on a regular basis., • Comfortable climbing ladders and working on mezzanines above machinery, kettles, and tanks., • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to established procedures., • Strong attention to detail when checking products for defects and verifying quality., • Basic computer skills to input and manage orders and production runs., • Reliability and consistency in attending scheduled shifts, including potential weekend or extended shifts.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Bilingual communication skills are a plus., • Experience with machine operating and packaging machinery is highly desirable., • Blending and batch mixing experience with kettles or tanks is a nice-to-have., • Comfort working in a structured GMP environment with specific hygiene and attire requirements., • Willingness to learn and grow into roles such as lead, mechanic, or senior operator over time.Why Work Here? Work Environment The work takes place in a very clean, GMP-compliant facility featuring packaging machinery, kettles and tanks for mixing, and organized inventory areas. The production floor includes multiple tanks, machines, and packaging lines, all within a temperature-controlled environment that can feel slightly warmer near cooking kettles and operating equipment. The facility is described as modern, well-kept, and pleasantly scented, contributing to a positive atmosphere. Multiple shifts are available, including daytime, evening, overnight, and weekend options, providing flexibility for different scheduling needs. Employees work in close proximity to machinery and on mezzanines above equipment, so comfort with heights is important. Dress code includes wearing hairnets, beard nets as applicable, non-slip boots, work pants, and no jewelry, in line with GMP standards and safety requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Broadview, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.05/hr.
