Job DescriptionSalary: As an Estimator, you will servce as asenior-level technical and strategic role responsible for developing accurate, competitive, and compliant cost estimates. This position plays a critical role in supporting business development and operations by translating complex environmental scopes into detailed, defensible bids and proposals. The Estimator will report to the VP of Operations and external vendors to evaluate project feasibility, assess risk, and ensure pricing reflects real-world execution. This role requires deep industry experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and a practical understanding of remediation methodologies, subcontracting markets, and disposal logistics. Essential Functions • Cost Estimating & Bid Preparation, • Analyze project plans, environmental assessments, specifications, and RFPs to develop detailed cost estimates., • Quantify materials, labor, and equipment needed for remediation tasks such as excavation, disposal, treatment, containment, and site restoration., • Prepare complete bid packages and cost proposals in collaboration with project managers and stakeholders., • Research and validate unit pricing, productivity rates, and historical project data to inform estimates., • Vendor Management, • Create, maintain, and continuously improve a centralized vendor and subcontractor database, including qualifications, performance history, contact information, specialties, certifications, and insurance compliance., • Identify, prequalify, and maintain relationships with reliable subcontractors, suppliers, and specialty service providers., • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project requirements., • Monitor vendor performance and update the database accordingly based on quality, safety, pricing, and responsiveness., • Technical & Regulatory Understanding, • Interpret and apply environmental regulations and standards (e.g., DOT, EPA, OSHA, RCRA, CERCLA)., • Leverage knowledge of disposal technologies & logistics., • Ensure that estimates and proposals incorporate required compliance and safety procedures., • Project Lifecycle Support, • Support project managers with budget development, change order pricing, and value engineering during project execution., • Track estimate accuracy by comparing projected vs. actual costs post-project., • Provide input on project feasibility, schedule, and procurement planning. Physical Demands • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather, • Ability to sit for extended periods and use a computer, • Occasional travel to project sites or other company locations may be required, • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times Required Education and Experience • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience., • 10-15 years of progressive estimating experience in the environmental services industry., • Demonstrated experience estimating projects involving transportation and disposal (T&D) of contaminated materials or Soil, groundwater, and waste management projects, • Proven track record of developing accurate estimates for complex, multi-scope environmental projects, • Experience working directly with transportation subcontractors, disposal facilities, and specialty environmental vendors, • Experience working within Salesforce and/or equivalent CRM Required Skills/Abilities • Advanced knowledge of environmental remediation practices, methodologies, and technologies., • Strong understanding of environmental regulatory frameworks, including DOT, EPA, OSHA, RCRA and CERCLA, • Ability to interpret technical documents such as environmental assessments, engineering plans, specifications and RFPs, • Deep familiarity with:, • Unit pricing development, • Productivity rates, • Equipment selection, • Disposal and transportation cost structures, • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risk, assumptions, and cost drivers within estimates., • Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and database tools., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain estimates, assumptions, and methodologies to internal stakeholders., • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail., • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
