(* requirements apply) GMS seeks to provide our employees with growth and advancement, and we encourage promotion from within SUMMARY Responsible for creating technical manuals and documentation for rugged, mil-spec computer equipment. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining technical manuals and assisting with technical marketing materials. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Receives assignments from a supervisor., • Observes production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail., • Keeps up to date with industry trends and standards to ensure documentation is completed on time and within relevant regulations., • Develop and maintain user manuals, installation guides, and other technical documentation that is easy to understand and addresses the needs of our customers., • Work closely with engineers and subject matter experts to research and under the technology behind our rugged, mil-spec computer equipment., • Use project management tools to prioritize tasks and ensure documentation is completed on time and within budget., • Collaborate with other departments to maintain accurate technical documentation that aligns with the company policies and goals., • Ensure that all documentation is consistently formatted and presented in a professional manner., • Work with marketing to create technical marketing documents., • Assist in the creation of white papers and other thought leadership materials., • Interviews production and engineering personnel and reads journals, reports, and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods., • Reviews manufacturers and trade catalogs, drawings, and other data relative to the operation, maintenance, and service of equipment., • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mock-ups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail., • Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology., • Reviews published materials and recommended revisions or changes in scope, format, and content., • Maintains records and files of work and revisions., • Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate the material., • Prepares or arranges for the preparation of the index., • Assists in laying out material for publication., • Arranges for formatting, reproduction, and distribution of material., • Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field., • One to Two years of experience in writing technical documentation for electronics or related products., • Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner., • Strong project management skills and experience with project management systems., • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and regulatory requirements associated with technical manuals for rugged equipment is a plus.
