Job Description PM Maintenance Mechanic – 2nd Shift (Carol Stream, IL) Status: Full-Time Shift: 2nd Shift (2:30 PM – 12:00 AM) Pay Range: $28.00–$35.00/hr Sign-On Bonus: $2,000 after 90 days Summary A food manufacturing facility in Carol Stream, IL is seeking a skilled PM Maintenance Mechanic to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on high-speed food processing and packaging equipment. This role supports production efficiency, equipment reliability, and overall operational performance. Responsibilities • Perform maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment such as grinders, mixers, stuffers, slicers, extruders, ovens, and wrapping machines., • Complete daily inspections, emergency repairs, and routine adjustments., • Conduct basic electrical troubleshooting, including AC/DC motor controls, advanced circuits, grounding, and reading wiring diagrams., • Support and follow a preventive maintenance schedule to maximize equipment uptime., • Maintain accurate documentation, inspection records, and inventory of spare parts., • Perform mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical repairs on food processing and packaging systems., • Recommend equipment layout changes, improvements, and upgrades to increase efficiency., • Understand and support company goals regarding productivity, yield, food safety, quality, and cost control., • Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Required Skills & Qualifications • 2–5 years of experience with industrial high-speed processing, packaging, weighing, filling, or inspection equipment OR two years of technical training., • High school diploma/GED, technical coursework, or mechanical certification (must have one)., • Experience with preventive or reliability-based maintenance., • Ability to read, write, and speak English., • Team-oriented with strong communication skills., • Ability to cross-train team members., • Proficiency using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)., • Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and equipment manuals., • Strong mechanical math skills (fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, metric system). Desired Skills • Ability to use multimeters and measurement instruments., • Experience troubleshooting PLC controls., • Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting abilities., • Welding experience., • Prior food manufacturing environment experience preferred. Physical Requirements • Ability to stand for 8+ hours and perform continuous kneeling, bending, climbing, reaching, and balancing., • Able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds., • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and elevated platforms., • Must safely operate hand tools, power tools, and light motorized equipment. Work Environment • Exposure to cold (34–36°ree;F), hot areas, elevated work platforms (up to 25 ft), and occasional outdoor conditions., • Noise levels range from moderate to loud; hearing protection may be required.
