Job DescriptionDescription: The Technical Production Lead supports the Production Manager by overseeing daily operations on the manufacturing floor, ensuring control panels, electrical and mechanical assemblies, and other projects are built accurately, safely, and on schedule. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership skills to guide a team of electrical and mechanical assemblers and technicians in producing high-quality products that meet customer and engineering specifications. The Lead acts as the key liaison between the Production Manager, Engineering, Customers, and the Production Workforce — translating technical drawings and work orders into efficient, organized production activity. Requirements: Duties/Responsibilities: 1. Production Operations • Supervise day-to-day production floor activities for control panel assembly, wiring, mechanical mounting, and testing., • Monitor workflow and productivity, addressing bottlenecks, delays, or material shortages promptly., • Ensure all builds are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with company standards and customer requirements., • Maintain accurate production records, timesheets, and job progress updates. 2. Technical Oversight • Interpret and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings to support accurate builds., • Provide technical assistance to assembly personnel regarding wiring, component layout, and electrical connections., • Review completed panels for correctness against drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and internal checklists., • Support troubleshooting and testing of electrical control panels, ensuring functionality and adherence to UL 508A, NEC, and safety standards., • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality departments to resolve technical issues, design changes, or documentation errors. 3. Quality & Continuous Improvement • Uphold quality standards through in-process inspections, workmanship audits, and pre-shipment verification., • Identify opportunities for process improvements in wiring methods, workflow layout, and component handling., • Lead root cause and corrective action efforts when defects or rework occur., • Support lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives to improve productivity, organization, and safety. 4. Leadership & Team Development • Direct and motivate production floor personnel, promoting teamwork, accountability, and respect., • Train and mentor team members in technical assembly, schematic reading, and safe work practices., • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations of production staff as directed by the Production Manager. 5. Coordination & Communication • Work closely with the Production Manager to plan schedules, prioritize builds, and allocate resources effectively., • Coordinate with Purchasing, Engineering, and Quality Control to ensure materials, documentation, and approvals are available as needed., • Communicate project status, production issues, and resource needs to the Production Manager daily., • 5+ years of experience in control panel assembly, electrical manufacturing, or industrial automation., • Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or related field., • Strong ability to interpret and troubleshoot electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings., • Proficient in panel wiring, component layout, labeling, and testing., • Familiarity with industrial components: PLCs, relays, contactors, terminal blocks, breakers, power supplies, etc., • Working knowledge of UL 508A, NEC, and NFPA 70E standards., • Proficient with tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, torque drivers, and multimeters., • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities., • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and safety., • Able to multi-task and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment., • Primarily on the production floor environment with exposure to electrical and mechanical assembly processes., • Must be able to stand, walk, and work with hands for extended periods., • Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds., • 401K Company Match, • PTO, • Personal Time, • Volunteer Time, • Paid Holidays, • Student Loan Match, • Tuition Reimbursement, • Medical, • Dental, • Vision, • Flexible Spending Account (FSA), • Company Paid Life Insurance, • Short Term Disability, • Long Term Disability, • Accident & Critical Illness
