Join the EPEX SPOT Team: Innovate, Collaborate, Thrive Job Summary: As a Contract Manager, you report to the Legal and Compliance Director, and you are responsible for managing the full contract lifecycle for a wide range of agreements, particularly IT and technology-related contracts. You ensure that contractual risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated, and that all agreements are aligned with the company’s business, commercial, and compliance objectives. You will oversee and report on key suppliers and services contracts during their whole lifecycle while supporting business managers with identifying potential synergies, optimizing costs, managing performance, and anticipating contract-related processes. In close collaboration with internal stakeholders, you will help strengthen EPEX SPOT’s contract governance by ensuring disciplined, transparent, and timely management of all contracts under your scope. The Contract Management team is part of the Legal & Compliance Department and works closely with Legal Counsels, IT subject‑matter experts, and Business Owners to ensure consistent, compliant, and value‑driven contract governance across the organization. Key Responsibilities: -Commercial and vendor contracts -Confidentiality agreements, framework agreements, and amendments • Support internal stakeholders by providing operational, financial and business advice on contractual matters, • Support in know your customer / know your supplier processes, • Manage the contract lifecycle, including contract creation, negotiation, approval, execution, renewals, and terminations, • Identify operational, commercial and legal risks and propose appropriate mitigation strategies aligned with business objectives, • Secure consistency between the ongoing contract drafting and the existing contracts (e.g. for synergies, overlaps and satellite risks), • Ensure, in coordination with the Legal Department that contracts comply with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and governance standards, • Act as 2nd level of escalation point for contractual matters (invoicing issue, KPIs, penalties, claims), supporting in the prevention of disputes, litigation, and maintaining a strong relationship, • Maintain and update contract templates, playbooks, and standard clauses, • Drive the implementation, maintenance and use of contract management tools and processes, • Monitor contract performance KPIs, SLAs and compliance requirements, ensuring deviations are addressed and escalated when needed., • Contribute to the integration of IT contract governance, supporting process improvements, and unified lifecycle management across all IT suppliers Key Requirements: Hard Skills: • Strong ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts across their full lifecycle -Vendor and supplier agreements -NDAs, framework agreements, amendments, and termination agreements • Solid understanding of contractual risk allocation, liability clauses, indemnities, warranties, SLAs, and remedies, • Experience in developing, maintaining, or applying internal procedures and governance policies, especially those related to procurement, contract approval workflows, risk controls, or supplier management. -Service management -Intellectual property rights (licensing, ownership, usage rights) -Information security and data processing obligations -Open-source software considerations • Ability to translate technical IT concepts into clear, structured, and enforceable contractual language, • Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate legal, operational, and commercial risks, • Familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools and document management systems, • Familiarity with BPM (Business Process Management) methodologies and process design, including the use of tools to document and optimize workflows., • Familiarity with cloud usage management and FinOps Soft Skills: • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders (IT, Procurement, Sales, Strategy, Operations, Finance), • Strong negotiation skills with internal and external counterparts, • Solution-oriented approach, balancing legal risk with business objectives and adapting contractual positions to different business contexts and risk appetites, • Strong team spirit and ability to work cross-functionally and influence decision-making without direct authority, • Curiosity and willingness to continuously develop legal and technical knowledge, • Resilience and adaptability, when navigating organizational improvements and implementing governance processes Education and Experience: • Degree in Law, Business Law, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in contract management with strong or IT exposure, • Proven experience as a Contract Manager or similar role, in an international environment., • Experience working with IT, technology vendors, or technical contract frameworks is considered a strong advantage Language Skills: • Fluent in English, • French, Dutch or German is a plus Who Are We?
