Anderson Knight are thrilled to be partnering with one of the UK’s largest and most established utilities businesses as they seek to appoint an experienced Senior Business Development Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a market-leading organisation at a pivotal time of growth within the multi-utility sector. In this strategic leadership role, you will head up a team of Multi-Utility Business Development Managers, manage key major accounts, and spearhead new business opportunities through strong client relationships, commercial insight, and innovative solutions. Success in this role will require exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, alongside solid commercial acumen and a comprehensive understanding of the utilities landscape. You’ll play a central part in identifying market opportunities, removing barriers to delivery, and driving growth in a fast-paced, regulated environment. Key Responsibilities of the Senior Business Development Manager (Utilities): Strategic Growth & Market Development • Shape and deliver a forward-looking business development strategy, identifying high-value opportunities and emerging trends across the utilities sector. Client & Stakeholder Engagement • Build, maintain, and enhance relationships with clients, industry bodies, and regulators, acting as a trusted advisor and representing the business at industry events. Commercial Leadership • Lead commercial bids, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations, ensuring commercially robust deal structures alongside internal commercial teams. Major Projects & Partnerships • Oversee major project accounts and support the wider BD team in securing significant partnerships, frameworks, and high-value bids. Team Leadership & Collaboration • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing BD team, collaborating closely across design, engineering, estimating, and delivery to create compelling propositions. Performance, Reporting & Improvement • Monitor BD pipeline performance, champion innovation, and drive continuous improvement across processes and ways of working. Experience & Knowledge Required: • Proven track record in business development or commercial leadership within the utilities sector, • Strong understanding of infrastructure delivery, regulatory frameworks, and sustainability drivers across multi-utilities (gas, electricity, heat, fibre, clean water, and/or wastewater), • Demonstrated experience in securing and delivering complex contracts, frameworks, or strategic partnerships Whats in it for you?
