About the client Our client is a confidential leading international power cable manufacturer and installer with a strong track record in delivering offshore and onshore power cable projects across Europe and beyond. The company manages complex EPCI cable installation scopes on major offshore wind and interconnection projects, with an Installation Department responsible for technical documentation, method statement development, and subcontractor management throughout the full installation lifecycle. Project scope The assignment supports the client's Installation Department on offshore power cable projects in the UK area. The Senior Project Installation Engineer acts as the primary technical interface between the client's engineering team and external stakeholders — including end clients, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities — and is responsible for the preparation and management of the full suite of installation engineering documentation. The role covers the following installation engineering scopes: • Cable burial risk assessment (CBRA), • Route engineering, • Burial assessment study (BAS), • Survey works, • Cable installation works, • Pre-sweeping and dredging works, • Mattress installation works, • Rock placement (rock dumping), • Trenching works, • Cable pull-in at landfall and at offshore substation The role is primarily remote with monthly face-to-face meetings required in Milan. UK landfall and onshore site visits are a regular requirement of the assignment. Role overview To provide senior technical leadership for installation engineering on offshore power cable projects in the UK, developing method statements and installation procedures across the full cable installation scope, managing civil works subcontractors at landfall, and acting as the client's technical point of contact with end clients, subcontractors, and authorities. Reporting line: You will report to the Installation Department and provide regular updates on the outcomes of technical meetings, document reviews, and site visits. Key responsibilities Technical interface & client management • Act as technical interface with the end client for document preparation and review throughout the project, • Act as technical point of contact for all scopes of work within the assigned project, • Critically evaluate technical and contractual information; analyse and understand customer technical challenges, • Develop technical design solutions against client scope of work, • Confront with subcontractors, end clients, and authorities to follow up comments on installation documentation produced, • Report to the Installation Department the outcomes of meetings and technical discussions Installation engineering & method statements • Develop technical procedures and method statements for all offshore cable installation activities: CBRA, route engineering, BAS, survey works, cable installation, pre-sweeping/dredging, mattress installation, rock dumping, trenching, and cable pull-in at landfall and offshore substation, • Fully grasp all engineering challenges and effectively utilise engineering tools and techniques to overcome them as they arise, • Ensure that technical solutions are best in class with respect to cost, quality, and safety Civil works & subcontractor management • Manage civil works subcontractors at landfall sites throughout the project lifecycle, • Conduct regular landfall site visits to check project progress and subcontractor performance, • Interpret geotechnical data to inform installation engineering decisions and method statement development Key deliverables • Full suite of method statements and installation procedures delivered on schedule and to the required technical standard, • CBRA, BAS, and route engineering documents completed accurately and in compliance with client and regulatory requirements, • Civil works subcontractors managed effectively at all UK landfall sites, with progress tracked and reported, • Technical comments from clients, subcontractors, and authorities addressed and closed in a structured and timely manner, • Installation Department kept fully informed of technical meeting outcomes and project status Requirements Education • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering Technology, Naval Engineering, or related discipline — an advantage, • Equivalent demonstrated senior experience in offshore cable installation engineering will be considered Experience Must-have: • Proven senior experience in installation engineering for offshore power cable projects — including method statement and installation procedure development, • Experience across multiple cable installation scopes: cable burial, route engineering, trenching, rock dumping, mattress installation, and cable pull-in operations, • Ability to interpret geotechnical data — mandatory, • Experience managing civil works subcontractors at landfall sites Nice-to-have: • Direct site experience at UK landfall and onshore cable installation sites — considered an important plus, • Experience interfacing with regulatory authorities on installation documentation, • Familiarity with offshore wind or HVDC interconnection project environments Technical skills • Strong proficiency in method statement and technical procedure development for offshore marine cable installation, • Ability to interpret and apply geotechnical data in installation engineering contexts, • Good working knowledge of document management and word processing tools (MS Office or equivalent), • Understanding of HSE requirements applicable to offshore cable installation and landfall civil works Soft skills • Strong technical authority — able to engage independently with end clients, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities, • Structured and rigorous approach to technical documentation and comment management, • Effective communicator across multicultural and international project environments, • Fluent English — mandatory; Italian is an advantage given regular Milan coordination
