Join our friendly Catering Team at Queens' College, Cambridge. We're looking for a skilled Chef de Partie to help deliver exceptional food for students, Fellows, conference guests and special events. Overall Purpose Support the smooth, efficient, and cost-effective running of the Catering Department. Assist with food preparation and production in line with daily requirements and instructions from senior chefs. Maintain the departments high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene, and safety. Main Responsibilities Review daily menus and upcoming functions, noting any changes. Prepare and present food to a high standard, ensuring correct accompaniments and allergen information. Follow all food hygiene, food safety, HACCP, and allergen management procedures. Maintain excellent personal hygiene and professional appearance, wearing the required uniform. Complete temperature checks, cleaning records, hygiene checklists, and allergen documentation accurately. Use kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance issues promptly. Keep workstations, storage areas, fridges, and freezers clean, organised, secure, and compliant with food safety standards. Ensure food is correctly stored, labelled, dated, sealed, and allergen-marked. Minimise food waste and ensure unused food is stored appropriately. Handover relevant information to colleagues at shift changes. Assist with food transportation across the College and support food service operations when required. Support colleagues across Catering and Hospitality and undertake other duties assigned by management. Essential Requirements Passion for food, high-quality dishes, and customer service. Knowledge of food allergens, food safety, health and safety regulations. Experience in a busy kitchen environment (academic, hospitality, or hotel setting). Strong teamwork, communication, organisation, and time management skills. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Flexible, proactive, and problem-solving approach. Professional appearance and high standards of personal hygiene. Desirable Requirements Strong verbal, written, and numerical skills. Good spoken and written English.
