Head of Clinical Professionalism The Head of Clinical Professionalism provides expert professional and strategic leadership for the clinical workforce (mainly AHPs), within a high-growth UK Health Technology company. This role is accountable for establishing and maintaining the highest standards of clinical governance, professional compliance required for the development and delivery of regulated health IT services. This is a strategic role focused on setting policy, assuring quality of individual professionals, and managing systemic risk. This role will report to the Chief Medical Officer. To be considered for the the role you will require the following: Essential Criteria; EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING • Educated to Master’s level OR possesses equivalent extensive of senior-level experience in a specialist area., • Currently registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), • Evidence of post-registration and continuing professional development EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE • Extensive knowledge of own professional workforce development, education, professional stewardship, and the implications of current UK healthcare policy., • Understanding of other clinical professional groups’ workforce development, education, professional stewardship., • A track record of commissioning and/or implementing education programmes and leading projects across organisations., • Must understand how services are configured, regulated, and where opportunities for non-medical health care professionals can optimize service delivery. SKILLS AND APTITUDES • Highly developed communication skills, capable of presenting highly complex, sensitive, and/or contentious information to large, high-level audiences., • High-level analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to draw qualitative and quantitative data from a wide range of sources to assess options and draw appropriate conclusions., • Ability to work on own initiative and organise complex workload, making autonomous decisions when required, and acting as a role model for ethical behaviours. Desirable; EXPERIENCE • Knowledge of Digital Clinical Safety and medical device standards. Within this position, you will mainly be; Key Accountabilities: Professional Leadership and Strategy • Accountable for developing, articulating, and delivering the company's long-term strategy for clinical workforce development, education, and professional standards., • Act as the primary professional advisor to the Chief Medical Officer, ExCom Team on all matters relating to allied health and non-medical practice regulation (HCPC/NMC), and clinical policy, interpreting national guidelines (e.g., NICE) for the Health Technology context., • Lead service redesign initiatives, benchmarking practice against professional standards to embed new, efficient ways of working that optimize non-medical health professional resource utilization and productivity., • Oversee and drive an innovation strategy that identifies, promotes, and incorporates best practice, translating relevant academic and industry advancements into non-medical health professional service delivery., • Translate identified workforce and service development needs into actionable plans, producing successful business cases and project initiation documents as required. Governance, Quality, and Risk Management • Clinical professionalism governance system: Work with our people and governance teams to establish, maintain, and oversee a robust Clinical Professionalism framework, including systems for effective incident reporting about professional concerns, embedding organisational learning derived from trends in complaints and patient feedback., • Clinical Audit: Lead the continuous clinical audit programme around professional quality, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practice and driving measurable quality improvements that relate to clinical professionalism across all clinical services., • Risk Management: Work with Head of Clinical Governance and Risk Director to identify risks related to poor clinical practice and work to mitigate those risks., • Policy Development: Responsible for proposing, drafting, and implementing changes and interpretations to policies, guidelines, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) related to non-medical practice, ensuring legal and professional compliance. Workforce Professional Assurance and Development • HCPC & NMC Assurance: Responsible for assuring that all non-medical staff maintain active registration, adhere to codes of professional conduct, operate within their competence limits, and fulfil continuous professional development (CPD) requirements., • Supervision Framework: Develop and oversee effective clinical supervision models in the non-medical workforce, ensuring it is evidence-informed for remote and blended consultations and proactively addresses clinical safety, delegation, professional development, and the management of staff workload and psychological well-being., • Medical Assurance: work with the Chief Medical Officer and People Director to ensure that medical care delivered across the business is of the highest standard and support investigations into poor standards where appropriate., • Strategic Staff Management: Oversee the standardized selection, performance management, appraisal, and personal development processes for the clinical workforce, • Skill Mix Review: Contribute to an annual review of skill mix and establishment numbers, utilizing national and professional benchmarks to strategically plan resource needs. Financial Accountability • Strive constantly for value for money and greater efficiency in resource use, ensuring work programmes operate in recurrent financial balance, • Responsible for effective matching of available budget to individual projects and co-ordinating monitoring expenditure and provision of financial reporting to senior groups.
