We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to deliver high-impact technical leadership, client advocacy, and strategic claims outcomes across complex casualty, property, motor and specialty claims. This is a senior specialist role offering significant influence over claims direction and strong opportunities for developing teams across both offices.Key AccountabilitiesTechnical Claims Leadership\n\n • Lead handling of high-value, complex claims, providing technical direction and oversight\n, • Interpret policy coverage, liability, and quantum with precision to drive optimal claim outcomes\n, • Establish and implement claims strategies, including litigation management where required\n, • Act as escalation point for technically challenging or contentious claims\nClient Advisory & Relationship Management\n\n, • Serve as a trusted advisor to key clients, providing proactive and strategic claims guidance\n, • Attend client sites and critical incidents, supporting from day one of a claim event\n, • Support client presentations, renewals, and tenders through demonstrating claims value\n, • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and market stakeholders\nNegotiation & Market Engagement\n\n, • Lead complex negotiations with insurers, loss adjusters, and legal representatives\n, • Proactively drive early coverage agreement and efficient settlement strategies\n, • Leverage market relationships to improve outcomes on difficult or sensitive claims\n, • Challenge insurer and supplier performance where required\nClaims Performance & Insight\n\n, • Analyse claims data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities\n, • Provide meaningful, insight-led management information to clients and internal stakeholders\n, • Contribute to development of claims propositions and service enhancements\n, • Support embedding of data-driven decision making within the Claims team\nLeadership, Coaching & Capability Development\n\n, • Act as a mentor and technical coach to colleagues across the Claims function\n, • Raise overall team capability through knowledge sharing and case reviews\n, • Contribute to technical frameworks, standards, and best practices\n, • Support succession planning and talent development within the team\nOperational Excellence & Governance\n\n, • Ensure claims are managed in line with agreed service standards, SLAs, and KPIs\n, • Maintain strong compliance with FCA requirements, internal policies, and Consumer Duty principles\n, • Ensure accurate and timely use of systems (including Acturis) and data recording\n, • Maintain strong control of costs, leakage, and supplier performance\nCollaboration & Business Contribution\n\n, • Work cross-functionally with broking, risk, and other departments to deliver integrated client solutions\n, • Contribute to business strategy, client retention initiatives, and growth opportunities\n, • Represent Claims in internal committees, projects, and strategic initiatives\nPerson Specification\n\n, • Strong technical understanding of policy wordings and legal frameworks\n, • Excellent negotiation and dispute resolution skills\n, • Ability to translate claims data into commercial insight and client value\n, • Strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities\n, • Systems proficiency (Acturis and Microsoft Office)\n, • Commercially aware and outcome-focused\n, • Credible, confident, and trusted by clients and the market\n, • Proactive, resilient, and solutions-oriented\n, • Collaborative leader with a passion for developing others\n, • Aligned to Verlingue's culture and values\n, • Considerable experience in complex claims handling within insurance broking or related environment\n, • Proven track record of managing high-value claims and delivering strong client outcomes\n, • Experience in a senior or leadership role within a claims team – desirable\n, • Relevant CII qualification (Diploma or equivalent) – desirable\nREF-229 272
