Highway Engineer – Leeds We’re Elb Recruit, representing a leading multidisciplinary consultancy in the UK, and they are seeking a Highway Engineer to join their growing team in Leeds. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile local and national transport projects, including York Central, the A641 Active Travel scheme in West Yorkshire, and other upcoming highways schemes with National Highways. The Role As a Highway Engineer, you’ll work on all stages of highways and public realm projects, supporting the design and delivery of sustainable, innovative solutions. You’ll be involved from concept and preliminary design through to detailed design, construction support, and handover. Your responsibilities will include: • Contributing to highway design, including drawings, specifications, reports, and calculations., • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions., • Supporting senior engineers and developing your technical skills., • Assisting in the preparation and review of feasibility studies, design documentation, and technical reports., • Ensuring work is delivered on time, within budget, and meets required technical standards. About You To succeed in this role, you will bring: • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and working towards, or holding, a professional qualification (IEng/CEng)., • Experience in highway geometry design using Civils 3D, Bentley OpenRoads, or similar software., • Some exposure to drainage design and software such as Causeway Flow, InfoDrainage, or ACO’s QuAD tool is desirable., • Knowledge of DMRB, Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20, TSRGD, MCHW, and Traffic Signs Manuals., • Strong AutoCAD skills and understanding of BIM integration., • Good communication skills and the confidence to present design ideas internally and to clients., • A desire to learn, progress, and take ownership of your professional development.
