Job DescriptionSalary: About the Program: The Asili Hair Care Apprentice Program is a 15-month, state-approved training program designed to prepare aspiring stylists for licensure while providing hands-on salon experience. Apprentices work under the supervision of a licensed senior stylist, gaining exposure to holistic hair care practices, professional client service standards, and technical training. Key Responsibilities: • Support your senior stylist mentor by assisting with daily client services, including shampooing, prepping, and natural hair maintenance., • Participate in salon training, meetings, and state-board guided curriculum., • Maintain salon cleanliness and organization., • Shadow senior stylists to learn advanced techniques; perform services as approved by your mentor and in compliance with state rules., • Educate clients on scalp health, nutrition, and product recommendations (per Asili Service Standards)., • Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and willingness to learn. Training & Development: • Apprentices follow a structured syllabus, service observation, and hands-on practice., • Certain services (chemical/color, heat services) may only be performed after specific training and approval., • Apprentices must complete at least 20 hours per week and register with the Maryland State Board within the first 30 days., • Apprentices are expected to build a full service kit within the first 30 days, with flexibility and support available Demo Requirement: All applicants must complete a demo prior to hire. Demo services may include: • Two-strand twists, • Loc maintenance, • Silk press (for those licensed or nearing licensure) Qualifications: • Passion for natural hair and holistic care., • Team player with a positive and teachable attitude., • Reliability and punctuality., • Strong interest in building a professional beauty career., • Prior salon experience or braiding knowledge is preferred, but not required. Expectations: • Apprentices commit to the full 15-month program., • Following completion and licensure, apprentices are expected to remain with Asili for an additional 15 months as part of the training investment., • Black scrubs are the standard uniform; one branded top is provided. The cost ($15) will be deducted from the first paycheck. Additional tops and jackets are available for purchase if desired.
