GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The purpose of this safety sensitive (SS) position is to perform repairs and preventative maintenance duties on a wide variety of fire apparatus, vehicles, and equipment. Troubleshoots and repairs electrical, mechanical, hydraulic malfunctions, and air conditioning systems.Performs proper repair, removal, replacement, rebuilding, or maintenance work on fire apparatus, vehicles, and equipment systems and components.Designs, engineers, and builds a variety of specialized storage and mounting components to obtain effective access, removal and storage of tools and equipment on vehicles/apparatus: installs add-on equipment for newly obtained fire apparatus, vehicles, and equipment; welds, fabricates, and/or assembles metal components, parts, brackets, storage systems, and/or equipment for fire apparatus, vehicles, and equipment.Performs routine servicing and preventive maintenance tasks necessary to keep fire apparatus, vehicles, and equipment, and tools in operable condition, including pumping fuel into vehicles, checking fluid levels and replacing fluids, draining/replacing oil, changing/replacing filters, lubricating mechanical parts, rotating tires, replacing tires/belts/hoses, checking batteries, greasing equipment, flushing radiators, performing tune-ups, replacing parts, washing/cleaning equipment, cleaning shop, or emptying trash containers; properly disposes of petroleum and other regulated waste materials; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment.Assists in maintaining log/records of inspection, preventive maintenance work, repair activities, warranty records, and other documentation ensures compliance with recordkeeping requirements of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and other regulatory agencies.Operates a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools associated with repairing, maintaining, testing, or driving fire apparatus, vehicles, and equipment.Drives to and from destinations as assigned by supervisor. Responds to emergency breakdowns or makes service calls to off-site locations after hours, weekends and on holidays as needed.Research repair requirements, preventive maintenance standards, and parts requirements for a variety of fire apparatus, vehicles, and equipment.Communicates with supervisor, co-workers, dealers, vendors/service providers, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.Maintains an awareness of new parts, procedures, trends, and advances in the profession: reads professional literature; attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate.Available to perform emergency repair work after hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.Complies with all written City policies and procedures.Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in City and department attendance policies and procedures.Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS – OBTAINED THROUGH PIERCE MANUFACTURING · Chassis Electrical - Understand the location and function of (non-multiplex) electrical systems and components used on Pierce® chassis. · Command Zone™ Systems - Get detailed instruction on the Pierce Command Zone™ electrical systems including the new Command Zone III. · Preventative Maintenance - Become an expert in preventive maintenance procedures required for fire apparatus based on NFPA and DOT Standards. · TAK-4® Suspension Maintenance - Learn the basic design and principles of the TAK-4® Independent Front Suspension system, including proper maintenance and repair. · SRP/Frontal Protection - Get expert instruction on the installation, repair, and troubleshooting of the SRP/FIP system. · Air Conditioning Systems - Get the basics on repairs, troubleshooting and maintenance needs of Pierce installed components. · Aerial Maintenance - Understand the proper repair and maintenance of Pierce aerial ladders and platforms. · Pierce PUC™ Pump Maintenance - Learn the basic principles of operation, maintenance and complete disassembly of the REPTO driven water pump and gearbox. · Air Brakes, ESC, ABS Troubleshooting - Learn basic air brake theory and proper repair and maintenance procedures on chassis air brake systems. · Ascendant Mid Mount - This course is designed to instruct the student on the proper repair and maintenance of Ascendant Class 100' Aerial tower by using both classroom and hands-on Training. · TAK-4 T3 - The one-day TAK-4® T3 maintenance class will cover the proper maintenance and troubleshooting of the T3 features. · Tiller Aerial Maintenance- This course is designed to instruct student on the proper repair and maintenance of the Pierce® Tiller Aerial ladders, by using both classroom and hands-on training. · Emergency Vehicle Technician certifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of education, plus 5 years related experience and/or training. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Job Description Our client, a prominent nonprofit organization focused on youth health equity, is searching for a Senior Operations & Advocacy Leader to drive strategic initiatives and policy work throughout Arkansas. The organization's mission centers on equipping young people with comprehensive, evidence-based health information and positioning youth as active partners and leaders in building healthier communities. As the second-in-command for this state initiative, you'll blend strategic vision with operational execution. You'll manage daily operations, spearhead policy and advocacy efforts at the state level, and cultivate partnerships across multiple sectors in Arkansas. This position offers a chance to create lasting change in youth health outcomes across Arkansas while leveraging a successful regional framework that centers youth leadership, health equity, and trauma-responsive approaches. Core Responsibilities Organizational Leadership & Management • Serve as Acting Director in the absence of the Executive Director for state-related matters, • Collaborate with regional leadership to adapt proven systems and processes for the Arkansas context, • Supervise and manage program staff, contractors, and consultants, providing leadership, coaching, and professional development, • Oversee daily operations to ensure high-quality program delivery and alignment with strategic goals across Arkansas, • Build sustainable programs that are responsive to the unique needs of Arkansas youth and communities, • Develop and expand the organization's program portfolio, adapting evidence-based models to Arkansas communities, • Ensure program data collection, evaluation, and reporting meet organizational and funder standards, • Integrate youth voice, equity principles, and trauma-informed practices into all program design and delivery, • Track, analyze, and respond to proposed legislation and policy changes affecting youth health and education, • Advocate for comprehensive approaches to youth health that prioritize access to accurate information and resources, • Build and maintain relationships with Arkansas policymakers, state agencies, and advocacy coalitions, • Equip youth and community partners to engage in policy advocacy through training, resources, and technical assistance, • Lead state-level policy and advocacy initiatives, advancing legislation and policies that promote youth health equity, • Develop trusted partnerships in communities that may be skeptical of or resistant to comprehensive health education, • Build and maintain strong relationships with Arkansas-based partners, funders, policymakers, and community leaders, • Engage with schools, healthcare providers, community-based organizations, and youth-serving agencies to advance the mission, • Serve as a credible spokesperson who can discuss sensitive topics with authenticity and cultural awareness, • Maintain strong stewardship practices with current and prospective funders, • Oversee grant compliance and ensure timely submission of reports and deliverables for Arkansas-based projects, • Collaborate with finance leadership to develop and manage the state budget and financial reporting, • Participate in multi-state leadership meetings and joint initiatives, • Travel occasionally to Mississippi for coordination meetings and collaborative initiatives, • Share Arkansas insights, trends, and lessons learned to inform regional strategies Education & Professional Experience • Proven experience in policy development, advocacy campaigns, or legislative engagement, • Strong supervisory experience managing diverse teams, • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive nonprofit leadership experience, with at least 3 years in a senior management role, • Bachelor's degree required, • Experience managing staff, budgets, and multi-partner initiatives, • Understanding of the cultural, political, and social dynamics that shape youth health conversations in Arkansas, • Deep knowledge of Arkansas's health, education, policy, and community landscapes, • Not adherent to abstinence-only frameworks; must be open to comprehensive approaches to youth health education, • Demonstrated ability to discuss intimate and reproductive health topics professionally and without judgment, • Strong commitment to comprehensive, medically accurate health education for young people, • Ability to balance big-picture strategic thinking with day-to-day operational management, • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail, • Ability to communicate sensitive health topics with clarity, compassion, and cultural awareness, • Ability to tailor messaging for different audiences while maintaining core values, • Strong public speaking and presentation skills, • Base Salary: $105k - $115k, • Comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision), • Retirement plan with employer contribution, • Flexible work arrangements with remote work options, • Generous paid time off policy, • Paid holidays Equal Employment Opportunity and Non-Discrimination Policy Equal Employment Opportunity Statement: Both Keller Executive Search and our clients are Equal Opportunity Employers.
