Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance Electrician Job Description The Maintenance Electrician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems, equipment, and electronic components for industrial machinery. This role focuses on ensuring reliable operation of production equipment through safe, high-quality electrical work, effective troubleshooting, and proactive maintenance in an industrial environment. Responsibilities • Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, including conveyors and programmable controllers., • Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, and run and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment to ensure proper operation., • Diagnose malfunctioning electrical apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, and replace damaged or broken wires and cables as needed., • Test malfunctioning machinery using appropriate tools and equipment, and discuss findings and issues with maintenance leadership to determine corrective actions., • Replace faulty electrical components on machines, including relays, switches, motors, position sensing devices, AC/DC drives, and PLC components., • Diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic components such as printed circuit boards to restore equipment functionality., • Replace electric motor bearings and brushes, and rewire motors for installation or repair to maintain optimal performance., • Plan the layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC)., • Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment when necessary to support overall equipment reliability., • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and industrial equipment to reduce downtime and extend equipment life., • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and diagrams to perform accurate installation, troubleshooting, and repairs., • Use test equipment such as multimeters and other diagnostic tools to evaluate electrical systems and components., • Follow all safety procedures and electrical standards while working with high-voltage systems, including 480V and other industrial power systems., • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to minimize production interruptions and support continuous improvement of equipment performance.Essential Skills, • Proven experience as a maintenance electrician in an industrial environment, with 3 to 5 years of related experience preferred., • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and equipment., • Ability to install and maintain power supply wiring and conduit for industrial machines and equipment., • Proficiency in working with high-voltage systems, including 480V power distribution., • Skilled in diagnosing and repairing electrical components such as transformers, motors, relays, switches, position sensing devices, AC/DC drives, and PLC components., • Experience diagnosing and repairing electronic components, including printed circuit boards., • Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams., • Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance for electrical and industrial equipment., • Familiarity with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as they relate to industrial machinery., • Proficient use of test equipment such as multimeters and other diagnostic tools for electrical troubleshooting., • Knowledge of and ability to install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC)., • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Background in electrical maintenance within industrial or distribution environments., • Experience working with generators and other industrial power equipment., • Understanding of industrial automation systems and programmable controllers., • Ability to work from and update maintenance and repair documentation., • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex electrical and electronic issues., • Effective communication skills to collaborate with maintenance leadership and cross-functional teams., • Commitment to safety practices and adherence to electrical and workplace safety standards., • Interest in ongoing training, certification, and professional development in electrical maintenance and industrial systems.Why Work Here? The position involves hands-on work with tools, test equipment like multimeters, and frequent interaction with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The environment may include varying temperatures and typical industrial noise levels. A casual dress atmosphere is supported, while still requiring appropriate attire and personal protective equipment suitable for an industrial maintenance setting.
