Job Description Medical Receptionist (Spine Surgery & Pain Management) – Commercial Insurance Experience Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Job Type: Part-time Pay: Competitive; based on knowledge and job experience About the Role We are seeking a professional, patient-focused Medical Receptionist with strong commercial healthcare insurance knowledge to join our Spine Surgery & Pain Management office. This role is the first point of contact for patients and is essential to smooth scheduling, accurate registration, insurance verification, and an excellent patient experience. Responsibilities • Welcome patients and manage check-in/check-out with accuracy and empathy, • Answer multi-line phones, route messages, and provide exceptional customer service, • Schedule appointments for spine surgery and pain management (new patients, follow-ups, post-op visits, etc.), • Collect and verify demographics, photo IDs, insurance cards, referrals, and paperwork, • Verify commercial insurance eligibility and benefits (copays, deductibles, coinsurance, network status), • Identify when referrals and/or prior authorizations may be needed (visits, imaging, procedures) and route appropriately, • Clearly communicate patient responsibilities and next steps (referrals, forms, arrival time, records/imaging needs), • Scan/upload documents into the EHR (insurance cards, referrals, authorizations, consents) and maintain accurate records, • Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient privacy at all times Required Qualifications • 2+ years medical front office/reception experience (specialty practice preferred), • Demonstrated experience with commercial insurance verification/benefits, • Strong scheduling and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment, • Excellent communication, professionalism, and reliability, • Comfortable using EHR/PM systems, scanning, and standard office software Preferred Qualifications • Experience in spine, orthopedics, neurosurgery, or pain management, • Familiarity with authorization workflows for imaging/procedures, • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus Skills & Traits • Friendly, calm, and confident with patients who may be in pain, • Detail-oriented (DOB, insurance IDs, coverage dates, referral requirements), • Organized, punctual, and team-oriented
