Job Description 1st Shift located in Detroit. A Yard Manager for a brick company oversees daily yard operations, managing inventory (bricks, materials), equipment (forklifts, loaders), personnel (hiring, training, scheduling), safety protocols, and logistics, ensuring the yard is organized, clean, and efficient for material distribution and production support, requiring strong leadership, organization, and hands-on skills. Key duties involve tracking stock, coordinating deliveries, maintaining equipment, enforcing safety, managing staff, and reporting to management. Key Responsibilities • Operations & Logistics: Organize and maintain a safe, clean, and efficient yard; manage incoming/outgoing material shipments; oversee inventory control and accurate record-keeping., • Personnel Management: Supervise yard staff, temporary labor, and equipment operators; conduct daily meetings; handle hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management., • Equipment Management: Manage maintenance, repair, and utilization of yard equipment (forklifts, loaders); ensure proper usage and timely repairs., • Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict safety policies, conduct safety training, and ensure compliance with regulations for a hazardous environment., • Inventory Control: Monitor material levels, conduct physical counts, reconcile inventory systems, and communicate needs to management., • Experience: Previous experience in yard management, construction, or warehouse operations., • Leadership: Strong ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams., • Technical: Proficiency with material handling equipment (forklifts, loaders) and basic computer skills., • Physical: Ability to lift heavy items (50-80 lbs), work outdoors in various conditions, and perform physical tasks like bending, climbing, and standing., • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational skills, and strong attention to detail.
