Job Description Our client is seeking a General Manager, Commercial & Offtake to lead the commercial strategy for a growing resource development organization with long-term ambitions in the mining and energy sector. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially astute executive who can shape market strategy, negotiate complex agreements, and help position the business for sustainable long-term growth. As General Manager, Commercial & Offtake, you will be responsible for leading the organization’s commercial activities across product strategy, customer and partner engagement, offtake negotiations, market positioning, and revenue-related risk management. You will play a critical role in ensuring the business is commercially prepared across the life cycle of the asset — from project development and financing support through startup, operations, and future expansion. This role requires a leader who can operate at both strategic and practical levels: someone who understands commodity markets, commercial structures, and stakeholder dynamics, while also building the internal capability, processes, and discipline required to support major long-term project success. You will work closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure commercial priorities are aligned with project development, operational readiness, and corporate growth objectives. This is a career-oriented role with a long-term view and is based in Boulder, Colorado, with substantial travel requirements. Key Responsibilities • Lead the overall commercial and offtake strategy for the organization, aligning revenue generation and market positioning with long-term business objectives., • Develop and execute commercial strategies related to product placement, customer engagement, pricing frameworks, strategic partnerships, and contract negotiation., • Lead offtake discussions and negotiations with customers, processors, trading partners, and other strategic counterparties., • Support project development and financing efforts by helping establish credible commercial pathways, market demand assumptions, and customer relationships., • Build and maintain a strong understanding of relevant commodity markets, customer requirements, competitive positioning, and market trends., • Partner closely with operations, project development, technical, legal, finance, and executive leadership teams to ensure commercial decisions are integrated across the business., • Evaluate and manage commercial risks related to pricing, contract structures, counterparties, logistics, market access, and long-term demand., • Develop commercial models, negotiation strategies, and partnership approaches that support long-life asset value creation., • Represent the organization in external commercial discussions, helping build credibility with customers, investors, lenders, and strategic partners., • Build and lead the commercial function, including the systems, talent, and processes required to support a growing organization., • Contribute to broader corporate strategy, including growth planning, market entry considerations, business case development, and expansion opportunities., • Proven senior commercial leadership experience within mining, energy, natural resources, metals, industrial products, or similarly complex commodity-linked sectors., • Strong experience negotiating offtake agreements, strategic commercial partnerships, supply agreements, or other long-term customer contracts., • Demonstrated ability to translate market insight into commercial strategy and practical execution., • Strong understanding of commodity markets, pricing dynamics, contract structures, and commercial risk., • Experience working closely with technical, operational, legal, and finance teams in support of major project or asset development., • A strategic mindset combined with practical judgment, execution discipline, and strong negotiation capability., • The ability to build credibility with a range of stakeholders, including customers, counterparties, lenders, executives, and project teams., • Strong communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence both internally and externally., • A self-starting, resilient, and entrepreneurial leadership style with sound commercial judgment., • Demonstrated success building or leading commercial capability in a growth-oriented or evolving business environment., • A reasoned and responsive approach to balancing opportunity, risk, timing, and long-term value creation. Preferred Background, • Experience in mining, mineral resources, battery materials, metals, energy, or other resource-linked sectors., • Exposure to project development environments where commercial strategy supports financing, permitting, construction, and operational readiness., • Experience negotiating long-term offtake, tolling, marketing, or supply arrangements tied to developing or expanding assets., • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline; advanced qualifications helpful but not required.
