VALUES: Desire to be great Excellent Attitude Hardworking Attention to Detail Motivated Exceptional Customer Service Do The Right Thing Every time Position Summary The Fertilizer Technician is responsible for applying fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and turf health treatments to residential and/or commercial landscapes. This role focuses on maintaining healthy, attractive lawns while ensuring all applications are performed safely, accurately, and in compliance with state regulations and company standards. The Fertilizer Technician works independently on assigned routes, interacts professionally with clients, maintains detailed service records, and takes pride in quality workmanship and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Fertilizer & Chemical Applications • Apply fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and other turf care treatments according to labels, schedules, and best practices, • Calculate proper application rates and accurately mix chemicals, • Operate and calibrate application equipment including Z-sprayers, push sprayers, aerators, and related equipment, • Apply mosquito and perimeter pest control treatments as needed, • Monitor turf and landscape health and identify weeds, insects, disease, or nutrient deficiencies Safety, Compliance & Environmental Care • Follow all safety practices and regulations according to OSHA, MIOSHA, and the Michigan Department of Agriculture, • Use proper PPE and follow correct handling, transporting, storage, and disposal procedures for chemicals, • Monitor weather conditions and adjust applications as needed to ensure effectiveness and compliance Documentation & Reporting • Prepare and submit daily reports and service logs of chemical applications, • Maintain accurate records in compliance with regulatory requirements, • Communicate findings, recommendations, and service results to supervisors and clients Customer Service & Teamwork • Interact respectfully and professionally with clients on-site, • Address client questions or concerns and escalate issues to a coach or manager as needed, • Report to work on time, identify opportunities for job improvement, and strive for quality on every property, • Assist with other landscape maintenance or seasonal services as needed Equipment & Vehicle Care • Load, mix, and transport materials safely, • Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of trucks and equipment Required Qualifications • Valid Commercial Pesticide Applicator License including:, • Commercial Core, • 3A, 3B, • Category 6, 7F, and 7A, • Experience calculating proper application rates for fertilizers and chemicals, • Experience operating fertilizer and spray equipment such as Z-sprayers, aerators, and push sprayers, • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record (chauffeurs license preferred), • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively Preferred Qualifications • Previous lawn care or fertilizer application experience, • Knowledge of turfgrass species, weeds, insects, and disease identification, • Commercial lawn care or fertilization route experience Physical Requirements & Work Environment • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, • Ability to walk, stand, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods, • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions, • Exposure to fertilizers and chemicals with proper training and PPE Benefits • Weekly pay, • Health care provided with HSA, • Dental and vision insurance available, • Simple IRA with 3% company match after 1 year, • Paid time off and paid holidays, • DeHamer events and company gear, • Great team culture, • Fast learners promoted quickly, • Access to a variety of equipment to train on and build skills DeHamer Landscaping [Company] Hiring Terms and Conditions: Applications must be completed via our website at .
