Job DescriptionWarehouse Worker Job Description This role is a third-shift warehouse position in a steel facility, focused on material handling, packaging finished goods, and operating equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes. The schedule runs from Sunday to Thursday, 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., with initial training provided on first shift from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The position requires working in a demanding environment, handling heavy steel materials, and supporting efficient loading, unloading, and inventory activities. Responsibilities • Handle steel materials safely and efficiently throughout the warehouse and shop area., • Package finished goods according to established standards and prepare them for shipment., • Operate forklifts and hi-lo equipment to move materials, load trucks, and support production and shipping., • Use overhead cranes, chain slings, and magnets to lift, move, and position steel and other heavy materials., • Assist with loading and unloading trucks, ensuring materials are properly secured and handled., • Perform general labor and assembly tasks as needed to support production operations., • Use power tools and hand tools safely for tasks such as cutting, measuring, and processing steel materials., • Support saw operating activities, including measuring materials accurately and feeding or removing product from the saw., • Check inventory and verify materials to maintain accurate stock levels and support production needs., • Follow all safety procedures and equipment operation guidelines in a steel manufacturing environment., • Maintain a clean and organized work area despite the challenging facility conditions., • Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts, demonstrate reliable attendance, and complete assigned work consistently., • Work collaboratively with team members, communicate effectively, and contribute to a positive, hardworking team culture., • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, willingness to get dirty, and readiness to take on physically demanding tasks. Essential Skills • Experience in material handling in a warehouse or industrial environment., • Ability to operate forklifts or hi-lo equipment safely and efficiently., • Comfort using overhead cranes, chain slings, and magnets for moving heavy materials, or willingness to learn., • Basic measuring skills to support saw operating and material processing tasks., • Ability to perform general labor, assembly, and production work in a steel or manufacturing setting., • Proficiency using power tools and hand tools safely in an industrial environment., • Capability to load and unload trucks and handle heavy materials safely., • Strong reliability, with a proven ability to show up every day and on time for scheduled shifts., • Willingness to work in a dirty, dark, and damp facility and handle physically demanding tasks., • Team-oriented mindset, with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with coworkers., • Desire to work hard, take initiative, and stay engaged throughout the shift., • Ability to work third shift (7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday) and complete training on first shift (5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)., • Comfort wearing lace-up steel-toed footwear as required for safety. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Saw operating experience in a manufacturing or recycling environment., • Background in steel, recycling, or heavy-duty industrial work., • Previous experience in steel manufacturing or working with heavy materials., • Material handling experience using hi-lo or similar equipment., • Experience as a production worker in an industrial or warehouse setting., • Familiarity with general assembly tasks related to steel or manufacturing operations. The schedule is third shift from Sunday to Thursday, 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., with initial training on first shift from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Lace-up steel-toed footwear is required as part of the safety attire, and you should be prepared to roll up your sleeves, get dirty, and stay focused in a demanding production atmosphere. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grandville, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
