LOCATION: Derby SALARY: Competitive, Dependent on Experience CONTRACT: Full-time, Permanent About the Rail Forum The Rail Forum is a dynamic, not-for-profit trade association representing over 370 organisations across the UK rail supply chain — from global OEMs and SMEs to start-ups and service providers. We connect, support, and represent our members including through the provision of high-quality networking opportunities, topical events, industry insight and collaborative initiatives that help strengthen the UK rail sector. We are now looking for an experienced and proactive Events Manager to lead the planning and delivery of our exciting annual programme of events — from our flagship Annual Conference and Parliamentary Reception to several themed conferences, topical webinars, social gatherings and networking sessions. About the Role As Events Manager, you will take the lead in developing and delivering a professional, engaging, and diverse programme of events for our members. You’ll work closely with our small, supportive team to shape event content, ensure effective marketing and communications, and deliver a seamless experience for members and stakeholders. You will also manage event partner and exhibitor packages, helping to generate income and build valuable relationships with sponsors and partners. Key Responsibilities • Develop and oversee the delivery of the annual programme of Rail Forum events — including the AGM, flagship Annual Conference, Parliamentary Reception, several themed conferences/seminars, social gatherings and topical webinars., • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure events are relevant, member-focused and well promoted., • Ensure all events have a nominated ‘lead person’ who takes responsibility for developing the detailed event programmme and sourcing speakers., • Manage all event logistics, including sourcing and contracting venues to ensuring adequate staffing on the day and provision of all required joining information, delegate badges etc. ., • Oversee event marketing and communications, ensuring timely and accurate information is provided for digital promotion., • Manage bookings, joining instructions, and event follow-up including logging attendance in Salesforce., • Develop and maintain event partner and exhibitor packages to drive income., • Represent the Rail Forum professionally at internal and occasional external events. About You You’re an experienced events professional who enjoys taking ownership and seeing a project through from concept to delivery. You’ll be organised, personable, and confident working with a wide range of people — from senior stakeholders and sponsors to members and suppliers. Essential Skills & Experience: • Proven track record in planning and delivering successful business or membership events., • Excellent organisational and project management skills with great attention to detail., • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in stakeholder engagement., • Experience of managing event budgets and securing sponsors or exhibitors., • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, project management software (e.g. Monday.com) and CRM systems (ideally Salesforce)., • A proactive team player able to manage multiple priorities effectively. Desirable: • Experience within a membership organisation, trade body, or the rail/transport sector., • Understanding of hybrid and online event platforms., • Awareness of digital marketing and social media promotion for events.
