Principal / Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Fast Track to Associate Location: Birmingham | Hybrid Working £55,000 – £65,000 + benefits (depending on experience) + Hybrid + Bonus + Training & Development to Associate About the Role A growing and forward-thinking Building Services Design Consultancy is seeking a Principal / Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Birmingham office. This is a newly established regional hub for a well-known national consultancy, and with ambitious growth plans in place, this role offers a clear fast track to Associate level. Specialising in Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, and Building Physics design, the consultancy delivers low-carbon, high-performance solutions across a wide range of sectors including commercial, custody and justice, education, healthcare, retail, leisure, life sciences, residential, and industrial projects. You’ll act as the “second in command” to the Technical Director, supporting project delivery, mentoring junior engineers, and helping to shape the direction of the Birmingham office as it grows. What’s in it for you? • Fast track to Associate with clear progression support, • Competitive salary, • Private healthcare, • Bonus scheme, • Pension and wider benefits package, • Flexible hours and hybrid working, • The chance to grow with an office from its early stages, • Exposure to a broad range of high-profile projects Key Responsibilities • Lead mechanical design across a variety of sectors, including commercial, education, healthcare, custodial, and more, • Deliver efficient HVAC, heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, • Manage and oversee project delivery with technical and client-facing responsibility, • Mentor and support junior engineers as the team expands, • Play a key role in recruitment and shaping the Birmingham office’s growth, • Contribute to sustainable and energy-efficient design solutions, • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes, • Manage quality control and design documentation What We’re Looking For • Strong experience in Mechanical Building Services Design (Senior or Principal level), • Background in commercial, education, healthcare, or custodial projects, • Excellent communication and leadership skills, • Proficient in AutoCAD (Revit experience is a bonus), • Full UK driving licence, • Chartership or working towards it (desirable)
