Project Manager - Mechanical & Electrical (M&E)\n\nThis is a rare opportunity to join a friendly and ambitious Design & Build Building Services Consultancy based in the heart of Wilmslow Town Centre (just 20 minutes from Manchester City Centre).\n\nEstablished in 2018, the business is on a strong growth trajectory and is seeking an experienced M&E Project Manager to deliver mechanical and electrical building services projects typically ranging from £25,000 to £1 million per site across the public sector, commercial property, and large domestic residential buildings.\n\nAs a driven and technically capable professional, you will play a key role in delivering retrofit, refurbishment, and decarbonisation projects, supporting the mission to help the built environment meet the UK's 2050 Net Zero Carbon targets.\n\nAs M&E Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of mechanical and electrical works, from early feasibility and design coordination through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.\n\nProjects will often involve multiple concurrent sites or phased packages, requiring strong organisation, technical competence, and the ability to maintain control of programme, cost, quality, and safety.\n\nYou will work in live and occupied environments, coordinating closely with clients, building users, contractors, and internal design teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery.\n\nWhat We Offer\n\nTotal Compensation Package: £50,000 - £65,000 (base + benefits)\nBase Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 (dependent on experience)\nHoliday: 28 days annual leave plus 8 public holidays\nPension: Minimum 6% employer contribution\nWorking Pattern: Monday to Friday with flexible start/finish times\nHybrid Working: 2 days working from home / 3 days office-based\nTraining & Development: Comprehensive personal development planAdditional Company Benefits\n\nPrivate medical insurance\nHoliday buy and sell scheme\nElectric vehicle scheme\nCycle to work scheme\nSustainable volunteering day\nRegular company-funded social events\nEqual opportunities employerTypical Projects\n\nProjects will typically involve M&E works within:\n\nPublic sector buildings (leisure centres, schools, civic buildings, social housing)\nCommercial buildings (offices, mixed-use developments, industrial and retail)\nLarge domestic and multi-residential propertiesTypical scopes of work include:\n\nNew and replacement heating systems\nAir source heat pumps, air-to-air systems, and hybrid solutions\nLTHW, DHW, and plantroom upgrades\nVentilation and air-conditioning systems\nElectrical upgrades (power, lighting, containment, controls)\nRenewable technologies including solar PV and battery storage\nBuilding management and control systems (BMS)\nCoordination with building fabric improvements (insulation, glazing, airtightness)\nRetrofit and decarbonisation works delivered within occupied buildingsIndividual site values typically range from £25k to £1m, often delivered as part of wider programmes or multi-site frameworks under Design & Build or Principal Contractor arrangements.\n\nThe Role\n\nDeliver multiple M&E projects (£25k-£1m per site) across public sector, commercial, and large domestic clients\nManage M&E delivery from pre-construction through to completion and handover\nDevelop and manage project programmes, budgets, and cost forecasts\nProcure and manage mechanical and electrical contractors and specialist suppliers\nAdminister contracts including valuations, variations, and final accounts\nCoordinate mechanical and electrical design information for construction\nLead site meetings and manage interfaces with construction teams and stakeholders\nEnsure compliance with Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, and Health & Safety legislation\nMonitor site quality, workmanship, and technical compliance\nOversee commissioning, testing, witnessing, snagging, and defects resolution\nEnsure timely production of O&M manuals and as-built information\nPrepare clear progress, cost, and risk reports for clients and internal teams\nIdentify project risks and implement mitigation measures\nSupport continuous improvement and lessons-learned processesRequired Experience\n\nEssential\n\nProven experience delivering mechanical and electrical building services projects\nTrack record managing M&E works or packages valued between £25k and £1m\nExperience across public sector, commercial, and large domestic buildings\nStrong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical systems\nExperience delivering works in live / occupied environments\nGood working knowledge of UK Building Regulations, CDM, and Health & Safety requirements\nStrong commercial awareness including cost control, variations, and final accounts\nAbility to manage multiple projects and contractors simultaneously\nFull UK driving licenceDesirable\n\nBackground in Building Services Engineering or M&E contracting\nExperience within Design & Build environments\nFamiliarity with low-carbon and renewable technologies\nProject management qualifications (APM, PRINCE2, PMP -
