Reporting to the Fabrication Supervisor the machinist will be expected to be flexible and multi skilled in various metalwork techniques. This role will involve supporting all departments throughout the site. Primarily responsible for operation of the lathe and milling machine alongside some welding / fabricating of various items using MIG and TIG welding plants. It is expected that all work enters and leaves within agreed times and is of the highest quality whist maintaining H&S standards at all times. Role & Responsibilities • Carry out day to day fabrication of parts ranging from small brackets to oil catch tanks propshaft flanges and parts for large test rigs from various sources and customers., • Solid skill base in use of Lathe and Milling Machines, • Welding using various techniques (Aluminum and Steel), • Able to read technical drawings, • Vehicle body shell modifications and reworks, • Write up completed work tickets to record in detail work carried out, • Liaise with engineering staff regarding work requests, • Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC staff at all times Qualifications : Qualifications • Formal fabrication or welding qualifications advantageous, • Experienced in General Turning and milling, • Welding (TIG MIG) including aluminium, • Experience with prototype and one-off work, • Knowledge of CNC based machinery would be an advantage, • Good problem solving / solution finding skills, • Good general IT skills (including MS Word and Excel), • Experience with prototype and one-off work, • Strong awareness of Health and Safety regulations, • Flexibility to travel as and when required (if applicable), • Full UK driving licence (if applicable), • Willing to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check (if applicable) Additional Information : For you as a potential UTAC team member we believe that the international and diverse nature of our business combined with the passion energy and friendliness of our people create a great place to work.
