Job Description Senior Director of Systems and Operations GSGNY Background The Girl Scouts of Greater New York (GSGNY) is a leading youth development organization serving 16,000 girls ages 5–18 each year. Our mission is to ensure that every girl across New York City can develop the courage, confidence, and character needed to thrive. GSGNY delivers empowering programs in nearly every NYC zip code, from traditional troop experiences to STEM and robotics, leadership development, and meaningful community service. We also support unhoused girls living in shelters across the city and send 5,000 girls each summer to our beautiful camp in upstate New York. Through our iconic Cookie Program, Girl Scouts earn money for troop activities while building critical financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills. About the Position: Girl Scouts of Greater New York is seeking a Senior Director of Systems and Operations to strengthen organizational systems and workflows to drive community impact and mission delivery. This role will focus on process streamlining, systems integration, and operational alignment, ensuring that tools and infrastructure effectively support staff and programs. The Senior Director will succeed in a fast-paced environment that requires adaptability, strong execution, and cross-functional collaboration. Reporting to the CEO, the Senior Director ensures that internal systems and operational frameworks are secure, dependable, efficient, and scalable, enabling staff to perform their work effectively in service of the mission. As a cross-functional leader, the Senior Director connects all verticals—Programs, Membership, Development, Finance, Human Resources, and Administration to ensure that systems, processes, and information flow are aligned with strategic priorities, operational excellence, and long-term growth. The role serves as the executive owner of the council’s internal systems and technology strategy, with accountability for vendor partnerships, system performance, data integrity, and organization-wide adoption. Key Responsibilities: Day-to-Day Operational Oversight • Serve as the primary escalation point for operational, systems-related, and service-impacting issues affecting staff, programs, members, or external stakeholders., • Oversee the daily functionality of internal tools and systems to ensure continuity, accessibility, and usability., • Monitor system adoption and operational effectiveness, addressing gaps through training, process refinement, or system adjustments., • Coordinate closely with Finance, HR, Programs, Membership, and Development to resolve operational challenges and ensure accurate, timely information flow., • Ensure enterprise operational readiness for mission-critical programs, large-scale events, and peak seasonal activities by aligning cross-functional planning, systems, logistics, and execution across the organization. Examples include:, • In partnership with Product and Sales: Provide operational leadership and infrastructure planning to support high-volume seasonal initiatives, including the cookie program, booth operations, and in-office cookie distribution., • In partnership with Advancement: Oversee technology and operational logistics for the annual Gala and other strategic fundraising events, ensuring seamless execution and stakeholder experience., • In partnership with all departments: Lead operational readiness and planning to logistically support Back to Troop, and program delivery., • Operational oversight: Establish and manage delivery, vendor, and logistics frameworks required to ensure these activities are executed efficiently, consistently, and at scale., • Provide executive oversight of all internal technology environments, including hardware, software, networks, and cloud-based platforms. Manage outside IT support to ensure goals are achieved., • Maintain overall system stability, performance, and availability across departments., • Establish and enforce system governance standards, including user access, permissions, documentation, data integrity, and lifecycle management., • Serve as the primary escalation point for enterprise-level technology and systems issues., • Evaluate existing systems and workflows to identify opportunities to modernize, streamline, consolidate, or integrate tools., • Lead system upgrades, migrations, and new implementations with structured change management to minimize disruption., • Oversee relationships with IT vendors, consultants, and managed service providers., • Manage technology contracts, renewals, service-level agreements, and vendor performance., • Establish clear standards for technology support, issue escalation, and troubleshooting., • Ensure staff are equipped to use systems confidently and effectively through training, documentation, and ongoing guidance., • Provide oversight of all council-wide insurance programs, including commercial general liability, property and casualty, workers’ compensation, directors and officers (D&O), and other required coverages, serving as the primary liaison with brokers and carriers in partnership with Finance and senior leadership., • Maintain cybersecurity best practices, including data protection, access controls, backup protocols, and disaster recovery planning., • Ensure compliance with applicable data privacy, security, and nonprofit regulatory requirements., • Collaborate with Finance, HR, Programs, Membership, and Development to support enterprise system needs (e.g., HRIS, CRM, financial platforms)., • Promote a culture of shared accountability for data quality, system usage, and information transparency., • Bachelor’s degree in business, Operations, Information Systems, Public Administration, or related field required., • 5+ years of experience in operations, systems management, IT operations, or organizational infrastructure leadership., • Experience supporting enterprise systems and leading system improvements, integrations, or implementations., • Demonstrated ability to streamline workflows, strengthen processes, and improve operational efficiency across departments., • Experience managing vendors, contracts, and operational or technology budgets., • Strong understanding of data governance, cybersecurity fundamentals, and operational risk management., • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and partner with Finance, HR, Programs, Membership, and Development., • Experience supporting staff adoption through training and documentation, • $110K – $125K / Annual Salary, • Comprehensive benefits including options for health, dental & vision coverage, Flexible Spending Account/FSA, commuter benefits, 403(b) retirement savings plan with employer match, and generous PTO.
