Our client is seeking a dedicated Assistant Controller to join their team in a direct hire role where your experience and attention to detail will make a real impact. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and supporting the broader finance team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Role & Responsibility:Tasks That Will Lead To Your Success Accounting & Reporting • Oversee daily position reporting to ensure timely updates by assistant traders, including post-month-end adjustments., • Manage foreign currency accounts, monitor unallocated forward currency contracts, and initiate hedge contracts (with dual approval)., • Record daily inventory receipts and match with corresponding inventory payments, including Bill of Lading entry dates., • Enter tolling results for inventory conversions and assist with month-end liquidations., • Approve A/P vouchers for daily wires and weekly checks. Ensure payments for material match with Purchase contracts., • Cash Posting / FX wires (backup), • Analyze AR when necessary, • Files and process Canadian and other state sales tax returnsReconciliation & Compliance, • Reconcile bank accounts and select G/L account reconciliations, • Assist with warehouse storage balances at month end., • Ensure sales contract pricing (especially those involving formulas) is accurate and properly supported., • Prepare government reports and ensure timely submission for approval., • Submit monthly “Select” Bank Package Reports.Preferred Attributes, • Intellectual curiosity and commitment to continuous improvement., • High degree of analytical rigor and commercial awareness., • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate in a dynamic, global business environment., • Comfortable receiving and acting on feedback., • Bias for action and ownership mentality. Skills & ExperienceQualifications That Will Help You Thrive, • BS degree in Business/Accounting, • 3-5 years public accounting/industry experience, • Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills (interface w/suppliers, customers), • Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment involving multi-tasking, • Must be a team player and willing to do whatever it takes, • Proficient PC skills, particularly Microsoft Excel. Experience with IBMi / AS400 a plus.
