Description: Kukui is seeking a motivated, hands-on Controller to lead our core accounting function as we transition from an outsourced model to a fully in-house function. This is a foundational role focused on accurate US GAAP financial reporting, timely close processes, and building scalable accounting infrastructure to support our continued growth. As Assistant Controller, you will own the monthly and annual close, prepare financial reporting and KPI packages, and implement internal controls while supporting planning and forecasting efforts. You will also help develop, manage, and maintain key SaaS performance metrics that guide company strategy and performance. In addition, you will contribute to major initiatives including the annual audit, 409A valuation, and budget management, gaining broad exposure across the organization. Responsibilities: • Lead and manage the month-end and year-end close processes in accordance with US GAAP, • Prepare timely and accurate financial and internal reporting packages, • Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the accounting function, • Manage the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors, • Assist in developing, tracking, and maintaining core SaaS performance metrics (e.g., ARR, churn, CAC/LTV) to provide leadership, board, and investors with actionable insights, • Coordinate 409A valuations and other compliance-related processes, • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, • Support budgeting, forecasting, and planning activities alongside the VP of Finance, • Lead the building of the in-house accounting function in partnership with the VP of Finance and finance team. Fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture within the current finance team and partnering cross-functionally with business leaders, • Assist in financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, • Help assess, select, and implement new finance technology and systems to improve automation, accuracy, and scalability of accounting processes Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred, • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a SaaS environment, • Experience as a Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager; exposure to Assistant Controller work a plus, • Strong understanding of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting standards, • Solid Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems, SaaS billing tools, and ERP platforms, • Experience supporting audits and working with external auditors, • Public accounting and/or Big 4 audit experience is a strong plus, • Excellent organizational and communication skills with a collaborative, proactive mindset, • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities Compensation: * Competitive Base Salary * Flexible Work Schedule (depending on assigned territory) * 4 Weeks Paid Time Off * 7 Days Paid Sick Time * 1 Birthday Day Annually * 1 Floating Holiday * 7 Paid Holidays + Annual Holiday Break * Annual Anniversary Bonus * 401k * Family, Medical & Bereavement Leave * Employee Assistance Program * Employee Work-Life Wellness Program * Remote Employee Reimbursement Program * Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Disability * Kukui Active (50% paid gym membership up to $100) * Team Building Events * LinkedIn Learning Partner * Employee Referral Bonus Powered by JazzHR 810J4tITHt
