Job DescriptionJob Title: Drafter / Designer Job Description We are seeking a Drafter/Designer to support the development of innovative retail displays, fixtures, and branded environments. In this role, you work closely with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to translate creative concepts into detailed, production-ready drawings and models. You gain exposure to the full design lifecycle, from initial concept and prototyping through fabrication and installation, contributing directly to the visual impact and functional performance of retail environments. Responsibilities • Develop accurate 2D and 3D CAD models and detailed production drawings for retail fixtures, displays, and branded environments., • Translate creative design concepts into manufacturable solutions using a strong design-for-manufacturing (DFM) approach., • Collaborate with internal design, engineering, and production teams to ensure technical feasibility, quality, and alignment with project requirements., • Support prototype development, including creating drawings for prototypes and incorporating feedback into iterative design revisions., • Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), assembly drawings, and other technical documentation required for fabrication and installation., • Participate in design reviews and contribute to decisions related to materials, fabrication methods, cost considerations, and product functionality., • Ensure all designs meet established project timelines, quality standards, and client expectations while managing multiple assignments simultaneously.Essential Skills, • Minimum of 2 years of drafting or design experience within a manufacturing or product-based environment., • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools for 2D drafting and 3D modeling., • Hands-on experience designing with multiple materials including wood, metal, plastics, and graphic components., • Solid understanding of fabrication processes and manufacturing constraints, with the ability to apply design-for-manufacturing principles., • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, production-ready drawings and documentation., • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work to meet deadlines., • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a cross-functional environment and clearly present design intent., • Experience using SolidWorks Enterprise PDM or similar product data management systems for managing design files and revisions., • Demonstrated capability in design and drafting for retail or architectural applications.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with architectural design, particularly related to retail spaces and branded environments., • Familiarity with design-for-manufacturing best practices for wood, metal, plastics, and graphic elements., • Ability to contribute ideas and feedback during design reviews to improve functionality, cost efficiency, and manufacturability., • Comfort working with cross-functional teams including design, engineering, and production to resolve technical challenges., • Strong organizational skills for maintaining BOMs, assembly drawings, and technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.Work Environment You work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment that brings together design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to create retail fixtures, displays, and branded environments. The role is primarily office-based within a design and production setting, using CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks Enterprise PDM on a daily basis. You participate in design reviews and may interact with prototype and fabrication areas to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable. The pace is project-driven, requiring attention to detail, clear communication, and effective coordination across multiple stakeholders while meeting timelines and quality standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Minneapolis, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $61.00/hr.
