Job DescriptionJob Title: Shipper and Receiver Job Description This role focuses on efficiently loading and unloading trucks, accurately handling shipping and receiving documentation, and safely operating material handling equipment to support daily plant operations. The position follows a Monday to Friday schedule from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Responsibilities • Load and unload 4 to 7 trucks per day in a safe, efficient, and organized manner., • Write up shipping loads by hand, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete., • Support receiving activities during downtime, including checking incoming shipments and verifying documentation., • Operate a sit-down Toyota forklift to move, stack, and organize materials within the plant., • Use pallet jacks and other material handling tools to transport products and materials as required., • Handle materials carefully to prevent damage and maintain product quality., • Follow all plant safety procedures and guidelines while performing shipping and receiving tasks., • Coordinate with other team members to maintain smooth and timely shipping and receiving operations., • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards throughout the shift., • Participate in any required safety or equipment training, including hazmat safety, as needed.Essential Skills, • At least 2 years of experience operating a sit-down forklift., • Proficiency in operating a Toyota sit-down forklift in a plant or warehouse environment., • Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including loading and unloading trucks., • Ability to complete shipping documentation and write up loads by hand clearly and accurately., • Hands-on experience with material handling, including the use of pallet jacks., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly throughout the shift., • Strong attention to detail when handling materials and documentation., • Ability to follow safety procedures and work effectively in a fast-paced environment., • Reliability and consistency in working a Monday to Friday schedule from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with hazmat or hazmat safety procedures., • Willingness to learn and participate in hazmat safety training if not already experienced., • Previous experience working in a plant, warehouse, or similar industrial environment., • Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with other departments., • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support different shipping and receiving tasks as needed.Why Work Here? You will regularly operate a sit-down Toyota forklift and use pallet jacks and other material handling equipment. The role involves physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working around trucks, docks, and storage areas. Safety procedures are emphasized, and training, including hazmat safety where needed, supports safe and efficient operations. Attire is typical for an industrial setting, focusing on practicality and safety, such as closed-toe footwear and appropriate work clothing suitable for a plant environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Detroit, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
