Job DescriptionDescription: About the Position The role of the Medical Assistant assigned to New Patient Intake is to facilitate the collection of all relevant medical/surgical history prior to the initial office visit with the OC physician. This is accomplished through pre-admission and admission activities. The MA will work closely with the Clerical New Patient Coordinator to complete all pre-visit preparations and medical record assembly. The position requires competency in patient interview, both via telephone and in person, medical records review, and EMR data entry. The MA also must demonstrate competency in basic clinic admission and discharge activities, including but not limited to collection of vital signs, scheduling off- site tests, collection and submission of lab specimens, and assisting MD with patient exams and procedures. Benefits: • Insurances: Life, medical, dental, short term and long-term disability, • 401K, • Free parking, • PTO, • Holidays, • Competitive salary, • Employee Assistant Program, • Tuition Reimbursement, • Continuing Medical Education Allowance, • Pet Insurance, • Employee Discounts, • Chart preparation for initial office visit, • Coordinate with New Patient Intake clerk after patient appointment is assigned, • New consultations:, • Review all medical records sent by referring MD, • Determine if any additional data will be required by OC physician during initial consultation, • Contact referring MD office for additional information, • Compile Patient Health History, • Obtain all available data from medical records, • Contact patient / caregiver via phone to complete data collection, • Interview using history tabs in EMR system, • Verify data gleaned from Medical records with patient / caregiver, • Arrange pre-visit interview for date of visit if patient is unable or unwilling to complete phone interview, • Identify other HCP involved in care who may have relevant medical records, • Request patient to release records from those MDs if needed by OC physician, • Review all medical records in the office, • Retrieve all relevant / final reports from hospitalization, • Electronic retrieval or, • Phone medical records & request fax, • Initiate Patient Health History from hospital medical records, • Contact patient / caregiver via phone to complete health history collection, • Verify history collected from hospital records, • Arrange pre-visit interview for date of visit if patient is unable or unwilling to complete phone interview, • Submit all records for scanning, • MA may be assigned to support other offices in New Patient intake interviews and chart preparation when workload and staffing levels require support, • Review of all scanned documents in EMR, • Initiate Patient Health History, • Contact patient / caregiver via phone as above, • Compile data in EMR system, • Notify site staff, • (MA) when in-office interview is required, • Professional, dependable, and personable, • Ability to multi-task and perform under the pressure of a high volume office, • Possess excellent customer service?skills, • Be efficient, accurate and have a friendly confident demeanor, • Familiar with HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, • Ability to gather information and complete patient health history questionnaire accurately, • Possess strong computer skills as well as written and verbal communication skills, • Experience with high volume patient flow (40 - 60 patients in clinic per day), • Ability to work independently – sets priorities, multi-tasks and is able to resolve problems., • Professional, dependable, and personable, • MA Certificate, • Ability to multi-task and perform under the pressure of a high volume office, • Possess excellent customer service skills, • Be efficient, accurate and have a friendly confident demeanor, • Familiar with HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, • Ability to gather information and complete new patient intake form accurately, • Possess strong computer skills as well as written and verbal communication skills, • Experience with high volume patient flow (40 - 60 patients in clinic per day), • Ability to work independently – sets priorities, multi-tasks and is able to resolve problems., • High school diploma, • Basic office etiquette, • 2 years of experience in an Employee Supervisory position and Medical Office procedures, • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
