Position Summary Paralegals should perform and produce high-quality billable work for the benefit of our clients in close collaboration with our attorneys. We expect our paralegals to provide a high level of expertise while managing a busy caseload. Primary Responsibilities • Drafting correspondence and legal documents for the attorney's signature, • Drafting proposed orders and decrees for the signature of judges and magistrates., • Processes, tags, indexes, and organizes voluminous discovery, including documents, electronic communications, and audio and video recordings., • Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, legal research resources, and e-filing in both state and federal courts., • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw., • Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Access, or other databases), Word Perfect, and Adobe Acrobat Professional or similar applications., • Drafts interrogatories and other discovery as well as complex pleadings, discovery motions, and orders for attorney review and approval., • Prepare experts/other witnesses and any other necessary pre-trial and/or trial activities., • Summarizes and/or indexes depositions, and on completion of discovery, summarizes and indexes all material., • Drafts jury instructions. Drafts and issues necessary subpoenas., • Contacts parties and witnesses concerning trial dates and coordinate with the attorney their appearance and testimony., • Coordinates any necessary interviews; meets with clients and/or witnesses as necessary to ensure proper case development., • Arranges for necessary medical and expert witnesses and coordinate their time., • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills., • Excellent judgment; able to handle multiple projects and set priorities., • Attention to detail, Precision, Goal Oriented, • General knowledge of procedures, calendaring, and deadlines, • Responsiveness with Deliverables on time and excellent follow-up, • Attendance and Punctuality: Be consistently at work and on time; arrive at meetings and appointments on time; ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent., • Dependability: Follow instructions; complete tasks on time; commit to the hours necessary to complete assignments; work independently., • Professionalism: Approach others in a tactful manner; treat others with respect; react well under pressure., • Team Work: Contribute to building a positive team spirit; support everyone’s efforts to succeed., • Paralegal Certificate in the State of California, • Minimum of five (5) years experience as a Litigation ParalegalCompany DescriptionAlbright, Yee & Schmit, APC is a downtown Los Angeles-based multi-specialty law firm serving individuals, businesses, and governmental entities throughout the United States.
