Job Description Job Title: Interior Design Manager Location: Chicago, IL Job type and Duration: Long-Term Contract Overview: Our client, a global transportation organization, is seeking a talented and experienced Interior Design Manager to join their Corporate Real Estate team in Chicago, IL. This role supports the development and implementation of interior design standards across a diverse portfolio of facilities, ensuring design excellence, functionality, and consistency. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and implement comprehensive design standards, including the selection and coordination of FF&E, finishes, and other design elements in collaboration with stakeholders and external vendors., • Collaborate with project managers to create and coordinate conceptual designs for executive and financial review., • Partner with internal teams to develop strategic design plans for new initiatives and facility improvements., • Manage workload efficiently based on leadership priorities and deadlines., • Lead space planning, programming, and utilization studies across facilities., • Review and interpret architectural plans from third-party architects and engineers., • Design Fundamentals (Design I): Strong foundation in spatial planning, aesthetics, and conceptual thinking., • Programming: Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize user requirements into actionable design criteria., • End-User Engagement: Skilled at communicating with end users to understand needs and incorporate feedback., • FF&E: Expertise in selection, specification, and coordination of furniture, fixtures, and equipment., • Materiality / Finish Selection: Proficient in sourcing, evaluating, and coordinating materials and finishes for aesthetic appeal, durability, and performance., • Test Fitting: Ability to create quick space plans and assess program fit within floorplates., • Standards Development: Experienced in creating, documenting, and maintaining design standards., • ADA / Accessibility Compliance: Knowledgeable of accessibility codes and universal design principles., • Graphic Skills: Proficient in visually communicating design concepts through diagrams, renderings, and presentations., • Organization: Strong skills in managing tasks, files, and project workflows., • Revit: Proficient, • Enscape: Proficient, • InDesign: Proficient, • AutoCAD: Proficient, • Microsoft Office Suite: Proficient, • Client-Facing Presence: Represents the team with professionalism and confidence., • Conversation Leadership: Comfortable guiding discussions with clients and stakeholders., • Confidence: Self-assured without being overbearing., • Flexibility & Adaptability: Able to pivot quickly between tasks and changing priorities., • Maturity: Demonstrates sound judgment and professionalism in all interactions., • Communication Skills: Clear, concise, and effective verbal and written communication., • Presentation Skills: Confident and polished in delivering presentations and ideas., • Decisiveness: Capable of making timely, well-informed decisions., • Amiable Personality: Approachable, collaborative, and easy to work with., • Ambition: Motivated to grow professionally and take ownership of responsibilities., • Humility: Open to feedback, with a collaborative and ego-free approach., • Practical Design Approach: Prioritizes functionality and appropriateness over flashy aesthetics., • Diligence: Thorough and detail-oriented in follow-through., • Workspace / Corporate Office Design: ~50% of experience, • Industrial Design: ~20% of experience, • Aviation: ~20% of experience, • Retail Environments: ~10% of experience, • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field., • 8+ years of relevant experience in facility design, planning, or execution., • Familiarity with design codes, including ADA accessibility standards., • Proficient in Excel, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit, InDesign, and Microsoft Office., • Ability to work onsite in Chicago, IL, up to three days per week., • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
