Job DescriptionSenior Business Analyst Be part of a mission-critical technology effort supporting child welfare services across Indiana. Our client’s Information Technology team supports the systems that help child welfare professionals serve children and families across the state. This includes MaGIK, the Management Gateway for Indiana’s Kids, which is composed of KidTraks, an internally developed .NET system, and Casebook, a software product from Casebook PBC. The broader application environment also includes Salesforce, MuleSoft, Tableau, and other internally maintained platforms that support child welfare operations. This role is an opportunity to serve as the bridge between child welfare operations and technology delivery, helping ensure critical systems are reliable, responsive, and aligned to the needs of the people who depend on them. About the Role The Senior Business Analyst will provide advanced business and technology analysis for software systems that support the ongoing goals and mission of our client’s Child Welfare program. This role works at the intersection of program operations, system functionality, process improvement, and IT delivery, helping translate complex business needs into clear requirements, workflows, documentation, and system solutions. This position will work closely with central office staff, regional managers, field office directors, supervisors, family case managers, IT managers, software development teams, quality assurance teams, systems support, project managers, vendors, and other stakeholders. The Senior BA will play an active role in discussions, solution design, issue resolution, testing support, and project execution. Because the child welfare application environment supports essential services on a 24x7x365 basis, this role requires sound judgment, strong communication, technical depth, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex enterprise system environment. The work has meaningful agency-wide impact and supports timely, effective, and reliable service delivery for child welfare professionals and the families they serve. What You’ll DoBusiness Analysis & Requirements Definition Translate program needs, user feedback, and operational priorities into clear technology requirements and actionable solutions. • Develop and document business requirements, functional requirements, non-functional requirements, user stories, business rules, workflows, and traceability matrices., • Formulate and define system scope and objectives through research, fact-finding, and analysis of user needs, business systems, and industry requirements., • Create and maintain documentation such as BRDs, FRDs, conceptual designs, wireframes, workflow models, and system testing documentation., • Analyze business processes and recommend improvements that support current and future child welfare operations., • Translate business requests for IT teams and technical concepts for business stakeholders.System Delivery & SDLC Support Support the full software delivery lifecycle from analysis and design through testing, implementation, and production support. • Work across the full Software Development Lifecycle, including analysis, functional design, technical design, testing, implementation, code review coordination, and production support., • Support Agile and Waterfall project environments using tools such as Jira or similar systems., • Participate in system testing, including test case development, UAT execution, defect tracking, validation, and testing documentation., • Assist with system integration efforts, including APIs, REST/SOAP concepts, and data flow validation., • Help ensure system changes are delivered accurately, on schedule, and in alignment with business and compliance needs.Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration Serve as a trusted partner to business, technical, and program stakeholders across the child welfare environment. • Meet regularly with customers, stakeholders, project managers, and leadership to provide project updates, status reports, and issue resolution support., • Work with MaGIK sub-teams, including software development, quality assurance, systems support, and project management., • Manage expectations across customers, peers, management, and technical teams., • Assist in solving complex issues by gathering input from central office, regional, field office, supervisory, case management, and IT staff., • Actively participate in discussions, listen to stakeholder needs, and help derive practical, scalable solutions.Process Improvement, Governance & Standards Help strengthen technology practices, documentation, and system processes that support effective child welfare operations. • Promote the use of technology services to resolve business issues within the organization, division, or program area., • Participate in the development of technical standards, procedures, and policies., • Support quality assurance, strategic planning, process improvement, and client relationship activities., • Apply knowledge of SDLC, IT governance, project implementation practices, and business analysis methodologies., • Stay current on technologies relevant to child welfare business systems and support informed recommendations to managers and staff.Data, Reporting & Platform Analysis Use data analysis and enterprise platform knowledge to support reporting, validation, integration, and business decision-making. • Perform data analysis using tools such as SQL, advanced Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms for reporting and validation., • Support analysis involving Salesforce, ERP systems, Tableau, MuleSoft, Casebook, KidTraks, and other enterprise technologies., • Apply understanding of integration concepts, APIs, system workflows, and data validation to support reliable system performance., • Assist with analysis
