Job Description Maintenance Purchasing Agent – Food Production / Bakery Manufacturing Position Summary The Maintenance Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) materials to support reliable plant operations in a bakery manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with Maintenance, Production, and Finance to ensure the right parts are available at the right time and cost. Key Responsibilities • Execute MRO purchasing activities, including sourcing, quoting, and issuing purchase orders for maintenance parts and services., • Manage vendor relationships, including price negotiations, lead time management, and performance follow-up., • Maintain accurate inventory levels of spare parts, consumables, and critical components to minimize downtime., • Use ERP systems (such as SAP or Oracle) to manage requisitions, purchase orders, receipts, and inventory transactions., • Support preventive maintenance plans by ensuring required parts and materials are available in advance., • Monitor and control maintenance-related spending to meet budget and cost-saving targets., • Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to prioritize urgent needs and align deliveries with production schedules., • Experience with MRO purchasing in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably food production or bakery. (such as bearings, motors, belts, VFD, PLC’s, contactors , fuses, belts ect.), • Strong vendor management and supplier negotiation skills., • Proven experience in inventory control, spare parts management, and stockroom organization., • Proficiency with ERP / CMMS systems (e.g., MaintianX or similar) for purchasing and inventory control., • Understanding of preventive maintenance processes and maintenance work order requirements., • Working knowledge of food safety standards (FDA, HACCP) and their impact on maintenance activities and materials., • Understanding of manufacturing equipment, mechanical and electrical components, and OEM/aftermarket parts., • Familiarity with OSHA regulations related to maintenance, equipment, and workplace safety., • Ability to track and report on costs, usage, and budget performance., • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with Maintenance, Production, and Finance teams., • Analytical mindset with solid problem-solving abilities for balancing cost, risk, and equipment uptime., • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, purchasing documents, and inventory records., • Effective time management and prioritization skills to handle competing requests. Environment & Physical Requirements • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely as needed., • Prolonged standing and walking in a manufacturing environment., • Regular use of ladders, forklifts or pallet jacks (with proper certification), and other material-handling equipment., • Frequent computer work for CMMS transactions, email, and documentation. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Coconut Creek, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
