We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable People Manager to join a manufacturing business in York, playing a key role in shaping a positive, inclusive, and compliant workplace culture. In this role, you'll provide expert support across the full employee lifecycle, with a strong focus on employee relations, coaching managers, and enhancing people processes. Reporting directly into the CEO you will drive continuous improvement, ensure legal compliance, and build effective, people-focused HR practices. Responsibilities: • Provide timely, expert advice on disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence, and conflict matters, • Coach managers to confidently handle people issues and apply HR policies consistently, • Track absence trends and support strategies to improve attendance, • Review, update, and implement HR policies in line with legislation and best practice, • Support policy rollouts and ensure clear communication, • Support learning and development data, tracking, and compliance, • Maintain accurate HR records and ensure GDPR and employment law compliance, • Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools, and templates, • Promote a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous learning About you • Experienced in a People Manager or similar UK HR role, • Strong expertise in employee relations and UK employment law, • Skilled in problem-solving and applying HR practice to real business situations, • Credible, influential, and confident working with stakeholders at all levels, • Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities, • Empathetic, collaborative, and committed to delivering an exceptional employee experience, • Background in manufacturing, retail, or people-centric environments is advantageous This is a permanent, office-based role based outside of York offering c£60,000 - £65,000 per annum.
