Our client is recruiting a Senior Project Engineer to take technical ownership of the light systems scope across the Washwood Heath area, covering the Birmingham spur and the delivery of the Washwood Heath depot. Signalling, SCADA and telecomms sit at the heart of this role. Your day-to-day purpose is to find the engineering risks that could affect depot delivery before they become problems, and to work across the client, contractor and wider programme teams to resolve them. You will take a whole-system view of the depot approach and its surrounding scope, thinking across the various stages of the programme and understanding how decisions made elsewhere can affect what you are responsible for. Where as-built surveys in civils reveal departures from the assumed baseline, you will work through the implications for the rail systems design that follows. Where scope gaps exist, you will find them. You will bring together subject matter experts from the client side and the contractor side to work through engineering challenges, whether those challenges sit within a single contract or across the interfaces between several. Technical coordination and integration are central to the work. You will support the assurance of design, construction and commissioning activity, coordinate interface management across the contracts that affect the depot, and make sure that engineering issues and change are communicated clearly to the people who need to act on them. You will also support NEC3 Supervisor duties and act as Principal Designer Representative under CDM Regulations 2015 within your delegated authority. What you need to bring Your background is in railway systems engineering, with relevant experience in one or more light systems disciplines: signalling, SCADA, telecomms or comparable communications and control systems. You will understand how rail systems interact with each other and with the civils programme around them, and you will know how to apply that systems thinking to a depot environment at a complex stage of delivery. You will have worked across multi-disciplinary programmes where interface management, technical assurance and risk identification were live parts of your role. Experience of working in a client-side or technically accountable capacity, engaging directly with contractors and supply chain organisations to protect the client's engineering position, is important. You will be comfortable drawing on subject matter expert input from across a programme and using it to drive decisions rather than simply record them. A working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and NEC3 contract structures is expected. Chartered Engineer status or active progress towards it through a relevant professional institution is also expected, though equivalent experience will be considered. Useful to have Experience on HS2 or a comparable high-speed rail programme, particularly where your work covered the transition from civils construction into rail systems installation. A background that spans more than one phase of a programme lifecycle, from design through to construction assurance and commissioning. Experience of working through the engineering consequences of as-built survey findings and managing the knock-on effects across dependent systems. Familiarity with configuration management and interface management tools used on major infrastructure programmes. The role is based in the Birmingham area, with work focused on the Washwood Heath depot and the Birmingham spur

Salary: £65,853.60 to £77,474.40 including 20% flexible fund Location: Birmingham, initially based at Snowhill before transitioning to Washwood Heath from June 2028. Contract: Permanent, full-time. I am recruiting for a Project Management role to join my client supporting the delivery of a major railway infrastructure programme in Birmingham. My client is looking for a technically minded professional who can coordinate engineering activities, manage multidisciplinary interfaces and ensure that civil engineering and railway systems works are effectively integrated. This is not a traditional Project Manager position focused primarily on budgets, contracts or governance. Instead, the role sits closer to the engineering function, requiring someone who understands the technical challenges of railway construction and design, can identify potential issues and confidently coordinate the people and activities needed to resolve them. The position reports to a Senior Project Manager and involves working closely with engineers and P6 Planners to manage day-to-day activities, maintain programme progress and ensure engineering priorities are aligned with wider project requirements. I am particularly interested in candidates with a background in railway engineering, systems integration or construction engineering management, ideally gained within a Tier 1 contractor or major infrastructure delivery organisation. Essential Requirements Minimum four years of relevant project management or engineering coordination experience, ideally four to five years. Previous experience working on major railway infrastructure projects. Strong technical understanding of railway engineering, including the integration of civil engineering works with railway systems. Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities across design and construction interfaces. Ability to manage day-to-day engineering activities, establish priorities and ensure work progresses in line with programme requirements. Strong problem-solving skills, with the confidence to identify issues, develop practical solutions and coordinate the resources needed to resolve them. Understanding of NEC contract principles, including early warnings and the management of contractual interfaces. Experience working with project programmes, coordinating engineering activities against delivery milestones and reporting progress to senior management. Nice to Have Previous experience as a Construction Engineering Manager (CEM), Engineering Project Manager or similar technical delivery role. Background working for a Tier 1 contractor on major rail infrastructure programmes. Experience coordinating rail systems integration across disciplines such as track, signalling, electrification and civil engineering. Experience working on projects progressing from detailed design into construction and delivery. Familiarity with Primavera P6 programmes and engineering delivery planning. Experience managing engineering interfaces between designers, contractors and construction teams. Previous experience on HS2, Crossrail or other major UK railway infrastructure programmes. Knowledge of NEC contract management and engineering assurance processes. My client offers the opportunity to play an important role in the delivery of one of the UK's largest railway infrastructure programmes, working at the interface between civil engineering and complex railway systems. This is a particularly appealing opportunity for a technically strong engineering professional looking to develop their project management career without moving away from the engineering challenges that make major infrastructure projects interesting. The position offers exposure to multidisciplinary engineering delivery, direct engagement with senior project leadership and genuine scope to grow into greater responsibility

Senior Project Engineer, Heavy Systems, High Speed Rail Our client is recruiting a Senior Project Engineer to take technical ownership of the heavy systems scope across the Washwood Heath area, covering the Birmingham spur and the delivery of the Washwood Heath depot. Track, OCS and OLE cable power sit at the heart of this role. Your day-to-day purpose is to find the engineering risks that could affect depot delivery before they become problems, and to work across the client, contractor and wider programme teams to resolve them. This is an engineer's engineering role. You will take a whole-system view of the depot and its surrounding scope, thinking across the various stages of the programme and understanding how decisions made elsewhere can affect what you are responsible for. What you need to bring Your background is in railway systems engineering, with relevant experience in one or more heavy systems disciplines, track, OCS, OLE or high voltage power. You will be comfortable drawing on SME input from across a programme and using it to drive decisions rather than simply record them. A working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and NEC3 contract structures is expected. Chartered Engineer status or active progress towards it, through a relevant professional institution, is also expected, though equivalent experience will be considered. The role is based in the Birmingham area, with work focused on the Washwood Heath depot and the Birmingham spur. If this looks right for you, please send your CV across and we will be in touch
