We are representing a well-established, quality-led dental laboratory in Glasgow, known for producing high-standard restorations and embracing modern digital workflows. The business is entering an exciting phase of operational improvement and growth and is looking for a hands-on leader to help drive performance and consistency. The Role As Laboratory Leader, you’ll take overall responsibility for day-to-day site operations, leading a skilled team and ensuring the lab delivers on quality, turnaround time, customer service, and commercial targets. This is a leadership role that blends people management with operational execution ideal for someone who enjoys being present on the floor and improving how things run. Key Responsibilities • Operational Leadership: Own the day-to-day running of the lab, ensuring production is planned and delivered efficiently., • Performance & Delivery: Drive KPIs across quality, turnaround times, remakes, productivity, and customer satisfaction., • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop the team; build a culture of accountability, pride in quality, and continuous improvement., • Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks and implement practical process improvements across workflows (digital + traditional)., • Quality & Compliance: Ensure robust QA procedures, traceability, and adherence to relevant standards and H&S requirements., • Commercial Mindset: Work with senior leadership to support growth plans, capacity planning, and profitability through smarter operations., • Customer Focus: Support service excellence—handling escalations where needed and ensuring consistent output quality., • Resource Planning: Oversee scheduling, workload balancing, and staffing needs to meet demand reliably. Candidate Profile Essential • Proven experience leading operations or production within a dental laboratory or comparable technical manufacturing environment., • Strong people leadership: confident in performance management, coaching, and team engagement., • Operationally sharp: planning, prioritisation, workflow control, and problem-solving under pressure., • High standards and a quality-first mindset; comfortable working to defined processes and improving them., • Confident communicator who can liaise effectively across teams and stakeholders. Desirable • Experience in digital dental workflows (e.g., CAD/CAM operations, scanning, milling, 3D printing workflows)., • Lean / continuous improvement exposure (5S, SOP development, process mapping, KPI management)., • Budget awareness and experience supporting commercial/operational targets.
