Job DescriptionJob Title: Registered Care Manager Location: Westminister Reports to: Director / Responsible Individual Hours: 40 hours per week (plus on-call as required) Job Purpose The Registered Care Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and regulatory compliance of the residential care home. The postholder will ensure the delivery of safe, effective, person-centred care in accordance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and all relevant legislation. The Registered Manager is accountable for service quality, staff performance, safeguarding, resident wellbeing, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities1. Regulatory & Compliance (CQC) • Register with and maintain compliance under the Care Quality Commission (CQC)., • Ensure the home meets all CQC Fundamental Standards., • Prepare for and lead CQC inspections., • Maintain statutory notifications and regulatory reporting requirements., • Ensure policies and procedures are up to date and implemented effectively.2. Leadership & Service Management, • Provide strong leadership and direction to the staff team., • Promote a positive, open, and inclusive culture within the home., • Oversee day-to-day operations ensuring high-quality care delivery., • Maintain occupancy levels and ensure sustainable service performance., • Manage budgets and resources effectively.3. Quality of Care & Safeguarding, • Ensure residents receive person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence, and respect., • Oversee care planning, risk assessments, and regular reviews., • Monitor incidents, accidents, and complaints, implementing improvements where required., • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead within the home., • Ensure safe medication management systems are in place.4. Staff Management & Development, • Lead recruitment, induction, supervision, and performance management of staff., • Ensure safe staffing levels and effective rota management., • Identify training needs and promote continuous professional development., • Conduct regular supervisions, appraisals, and competency assessments.5. Resident & Family Engagement, • Build and maintain strong relationships with residents and their families., • Address concerns and complaints promptly and professionally., • Facilitate resident and relative meetings to encourage feedback and service improvement.6. Multi-Agency & External Partnerships, • Liaise with local authorities, healthcare professionals, and external agencies., • Maintain effective partnerships to support residents’ health and wellbeing., • Represent the home professionally in external meetings and reviews.7. Health & Safety & Risk Management, • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation., • Oversee infection prevention and control standards., • Ensure emergency procedures, fire safety systems, and risk management processes are effective.Person SpecificationEssential Criteria, • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or working towards)., • Previous experience managing or deputising within a residential care home., • Strong knowledge of CQC regulations and inspection processes., • Experience in safeguarding, care planning, and quality assurance., • Excellent leadership and staff management skills., • Strong organisational and financial management ability., • Ability to work on-call as required.Desirable Criteria, • Experience managing services rated “Good” or “Outstanding” by CQC., • Budget management experience., • Experience supporting elderly residents and/or residents living with dementia.
