Position Summary: The Remote Operations Center (ROC) Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, governance, and continuous improvement of the company’s 24/7 Remote Operations Center supporting utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets. This position serves as the operational leader for centralized monitoring, dispatch coordination, alarm management, remote troubleshooting, incident response, and reliability compliance across the renewable generation fleet. The ROC Manager is accountable for developing scalable operational processes, driving operational excellence initiatives, ensuring NERC/CIP compliance readiness, and building a high-performing operations team capable of supporting a rapidly growing portfolio. The role partners cross-functionally with Field Operations, SCADA/OT, Engineering, Asset Management, Compliance, and Executive Leadership to optimize asset reliability, fleet availability, operational response, and control center performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: ROC Leadership & Operational Management • Lead, develop, and manage ROC operators, dispatchers, and Generator Operators (GOPs) supporting 24/7 renewable asset operations., • Establish ROC operational standards, escalation protocols, shift structures, staffing models, and performance expectations., • Drive accountability through KPI development, operational reporting, incident reviews, and operator performance management., • Foster a high-performance culture centered on operational discipline, safety, reliability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement., • Develop workforce planning strategies, succession planning initiatives, and operator training programs to support long-term ROC scalability. Fleet Operations & Reliability • Oversee real-time monitoring and operational coordination for utility-scale Solar PV and BESS assets across multiple ISOs/RTOs., • Ensure timely response, escalation, and resolution of operational events, outages, curtailments, alarms, and abnormal operating conditions., • Coordinate closely with Field Operations, Engineering, and third-party service providers to maximize fleet availability and operational reliability., • Monitor fleet operational trends and performance metrics to identify opportunities for optimization, standardization, and process improvement., • Support operational readiness and integration activities for newly commissioned assets transitioning into commercial operations. Compliance, Governance & Cybersecurity • Ensure ROC operations maintain compliance with applicable NERC, CIP, ISO, utility, and internal operational requirements., • Partner with Compliance and Cybersecurity teams to maintain adherence to operational technology (OT) security standards and critical infrastructure protection protocols., • Oversee ROC operational procedures, event documentation, operator logs, communication protocols, and audit readiness activities., • Lead implementation and maintenance of operational controls, governance frameworks, and standardized operating procedures., • Support internal and external compliance reviews, audits, and reliability event investigations. Cross-Functional & External Coordination • Serve as the primary operational interface between the ROC and internal business functions including Asset Management, SCADA/OT, Engineering, Compliance, and Executive Leadership., • Coordinate operational communications with utilities, balancing authorities, transmission operators (TOPs), off takers, and asset owners during real-time operational events., • Provide operational leadership during critical incidents, emergency response situations, and grid-related disturbances., • Support strategic initiatives related to ROC expansion, automation, digitalization, and operational maturity. Continuous Improvement & Strategic Initiatives • Lead initiatives focused on ROC scalability, automation, alarm rationalization, workflow optimization, and operational efficiency., • Develop and implement operational dashboards, reporting structures, and data-driven performance analytics., • Identify opportunities to improve response times, fleet visibility, incident management, and operational consistency across the portfolio., • Support budget planning, vendor management, technology implementation, and long-term ROC infrastructure strategy. Preferred Qualifications • Experience supporting ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, MISO, or other ISO/RTO market operations., • NERC Certification or direct Generator Operator (GOP) operational experience preferred., • Experience supporting ROC buildout, operational transformation, or 24/7 control room scaling initiatives., • Familiarity with utility-scale BESS operations, inverter controls, and grid support functions., • Experience with CMMS platforms, operational analytics tools, and performance reporting systems., • Prior experience managing multi-site renewable portfolios across geographically diverse regions. Education and/or Experience Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Energy Systems, or related technical discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience considered., • Minimum 7+ years of experience in power generation, renewable energy operations, utility operations, or control room environments., • Minimum 3+ years of leadership experience managing operations personnel within a 24/7 operational environment., • Demonstrated experience leading utility-scale renewable operations, including Solar PV, BESS, or hybrid generation assets., • Strong working knowledge of SCADA, EMS, monitoring platforms, alarm management systems, and operational reporting tools., • Experience operating within or supporting NERC/CIP-regulated environments and reliability compliance programs., • Proven ability to develop operational procedures, escalation frameworks, and standardized work processes., • Strong understanding of fleet operations, outage management, incident response, and operational risk mitigation., • Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills., • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to lead complex operational issue resolution.
