Quality Control Auditor – Mortgage LendingPosition Overview The Quality Control Auditor is responsible for performing comprehensive audits of closed mortgage loans to ensure compliance with investor, agency, and regulatory guidelines. This role focuses on re-underwriting credit, reviewing property appraisals, and conducting compliance checks to identify deficiencies, potential fraud, and risk trends. The auditor will document findings, assign defect severity, and maintain high standards of accuracy and productivity. Key Responsibilities • Credit Review (Primary Focus):, • Perform credit re-underwriting on all loan files based on AUS findings or manual approvals., • Analyze borrower income sources (employment, rental, etc.) and recalculate as needed., • Assess borrower liabilities and calculate debt-to-income (DTI) ratios., • Ensure loan elements meet investor and agency guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, HELOC)., • Appraisal Analysis:, • Review property appraisals to confirm value support and eligibility requirements., • Validate appraisal documentation for accuracy and compliance., • Compliance Review:, • Conduct High Cost, APR, Amount Financed, and State Predatory tests using compliance systems., • Review closing documents, disclosures, and legal documents for completeness and accuracy., • Quality Control & Risk Management:, • Identify potential misrepresentation, fraud, and defect trends., • Interpret re-verification results and cite defects accordingly., • Enter defined loan data into QC systems and document deficiencies clearly., • Assign defect severity based on investor and agency risk., • Collaboration & Training:, • Maintain consistent schedule for training and mentoring with senior QC auditors., • Communicate findings effectively with internal teams.Required Qualifications, • Experience: Minimum 5–10 years in mortgage underwriting or audit., • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience., • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA guidelines., • Familiarity with TRID compliance and disclosure requirements., • Skills: Advanced mathematical ability for income and ratio calculations., • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills., • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to document findings concisely., • Proficient in mortgage and financial documentation review.Preferred Qualifications, • Experience in a QC environment within lending., • Fraud investigation experience., • Underwriting certifications (SAR, CHUMs IV)., • Loan processing or loan officer background., • Familiarity with compliance systems and TRID requirements.Key Competencies, • Attention to detail and accuracy., • Ability to meet and exceed productivity and quality standards., • Self-directed research and interpretation of agency guidelines. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $31.25/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
