Position Summary The Commissioning & Field Service Specialist is responsible for the final testing, commissioning, and ongoing service support of complex Audio-Visual systems during and post construction. This role serves as a technical leader in the field, working closely with Project Managers, Engineering, and the tech support team to ensure systems are installed, tested, documented, and supported to the highest standards. This position combines system commissioning expertise with hands-on service and troubleshooting, providing customers with a seamless transition from project delivery to long-term system reliability and performance. What You'll Do Commissioning & Project Support • Perform final testing and commissioning of complex AV systems during and post-build, • Read and interpret electronic schematics, system drawings, and architectural blueprints, • Review project Scope of Work (SOW) to verify quality, completeness, and compliance, • Test point-to-point functionality and integrated system performance, • Troubleshoot complex audio, video, control, and network-related issues, • Upload, download, and deploy control system code (AMX / Extron/ Crestron), • Write and modify DSP configurations; perform tuning and system optimization, • Make minor control programming changes under direction of Engineering or Programming teams, • Configure IP-addressable devices and verify network communication, • Generate documented test results, punch lists, and commissioning reports, • Support system acceptance testing (SAT) and perform client training as required, • Act as a technical liaison with clients as required Service & Support Responsibilities • Provide on-site field service support in partnership with the Tech Services Team, • Perform preventative maintenance visits to maintain system stability, • Diagnose and restore functionality to customer AV systems, • Support service calls involving networked AV devices, codecs, and control systems, • Perform firmware updates and field installation of control programs, • Clean and maintain AV equipment (cameras, displays, racks, fans, etc.), • Troubleshoot and configure enterprise video conferencing solutions, • Assist and mentor junior technicians as needed, • Perform service-related installation tasks as needed:, • Cable pulling and terminations, • Connector crimping and soldering, • Equipment mounting and ceiling hardware installation, • Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently, • Adhere to OSHA and jobsite safety standards, • Work in active construction and occupied-site environments Must-Haves • Strong verbal and written communication skills, • Proven business and technical documentation writing ability, • Advanced understanding of audio, video, and control signal flow, • Solid knowledge of IP networking concepts, • Proficiency with test and calibration equipment, • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex AV system issues independently, • Experience with AMX/ Extron/ Crestron control systems, • DSP configuration and tuning experience, • Advanced PC proficiency, • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, • Ability to manage priorities and adapt to changing schedules, • Ability to climb ladders and lift tools/equipment, • 4+ years of AV integration, commissioning, or field service experience, • Formal education in Electronics or a related field, • AVIXA CTS (or higher) certification, • Experience with enterprise UC platforms:, • Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Cisco, BlueJeans, • Crestron/ Extron/ or AMX training/certifications, • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification, • Primarily field-based at customer sites, • May involve construction-site environments, • Work hours and locations may vary based on project and client needs, • Medical, dental, and vision benefits, • Paid holidays, sick days, and Paid Time Off, • Enjoyable, team-oriented company culture, • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities, • Opportunity to work on advanced, enterprise-level AV systems Why Join Kelso Industries?
